LIVE: Bloemfontein Celtic vs Bidvest Wits

Posted: 7 December 2014 Time: 15:09

Bloemfontein Celtic conceded in the dying minutes to hand visitors Bidvest Wits a 1-0 victory at the Free State Stadium.

An 85th minute goal by Ben Motshwari broke the ice for the visitors in this Absa Premiership clash. He netted after beating Musa Bilankulu for pace, leaving Patrick Tignyemb helpless in goal.

The win elevates the Clever Boys to third position on the log while Siwelele remain in tenth spot.

The first stanza was packed with good football from both sides as the visitors had a set-piece as early as the 1st minute but Thulani Hlatshwayo blasted over.

Celtic then broke down the left through Dhatelo Morena, but his final pass was not good enough to create a scoring chance.

In the 18th minute, Ben Motshwari’s effort on goal did not trouble goalkeeper Tignyemb as the visitors kept the home side under pressure.

On the half-hour mark, Zambian midfielder Mukuka Mulenga hit the woodwork and the rebound fell to Musa Nyatama but he put the ball wide of goal.

The Clever Boys nearly took a first-half lead when striker Henrico Botes hit the woodwork with Tignyemb well beaten.

The second half began when Onismor Bhasera’s effort went wide before Mulenga took on the Wits defence but lost the ball in the edge of the area.

The crucial moment of the match arrived when Motshwari netted with six minutes remaining after beating Musa Bilankulu for pace and leaving Tignyemb helpless and beaten hands down as he passed into the empty net.

With one minute left to go, Moeneeb Josephs saved from close range following a free kick by Vuyani Ntanga to keep a clean sheet in his 400th PSL match.

Ben Motshwari, what a talent...and it takes 2 games to see raw talent i first saw this boy when they played Mighty Amakhosi, coming from Motsepe league straight into starting 11 at wits...great breakthrough. stay humbled boy.

Ok Mr Ernst I said it you need to consider yourself jobless after your target set to finish in top 3 set by Max; Knowing you and your style and players you have I knew this was an indirect firing, if am not mistaken you have lost 3 since the target set out of 4 games.  Again this is how the league will end

1. Chiefs

2. Sundowns

3. Pirates (They will beat downs in coming fixture to make themselves feel better after Chiefs molesting)
