Marcos De Jesus continued his rejuvenation at BidVest Wits, scoring the game's only goal in the Clever Boys' Absa Premiership win over Thanda Royal Zulu FC.
The forward struck with just under 20 minutes to play in a weather interrupted match, handing Wits their third win in the last five league games.
A short while after kick-off, bad weather forced the game to be suspended for roughly 40 minutes.
Wits dominated following the resumption, with all of Marawaan Bantam, De Jesus, David Radebe Noah Chivuta and Calvin Sosibo trying their luck with efforts on goal, but the teams were tied 0-0 at the break.
Thanda mustered their first attempt on goal three minutes after the interval, a Katlego Loke shot from some 35-yards out that was easily grasped by Moeneeb Josephs.
But Thanda's Mandlenkosi Tsengwa, who was by far the busier of the two 'keepers, was soon called back into action to save shots from Chivuta and De Jesus in quick succession.
Wits wasted another chance in the 68th minute, with Chivuta heading over from Clive-Moyo Modise's fine cross, and just a few moments later it was De Jesus' turn to shoot off target yet again.
But the Brazilian striker finally got it right in the 71st minute, shooting beyond Tsengwa from 25-yards out to hand Wits a lead that was long overdue.
Thanda finally showed some attacking initiative in the final 15 minutes, although Serge Djiehoua and Joseph Kibe both put their shots off target, handing the Clever Boys a deserved victory.
