Absa Premiership: Orlando Pirates vs Platinum Stars

Posted: 8 April 2015 Time: 21:25

Orlando Pirates fought back three times to deny Platinum Stars the three points at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

A Mokgakolodi Ngele hat-trick was not enough to earn Cavin Johnson's side the three points, as Mpho Makola bagged a brace and Oupa Manyisa's strike ensured an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Ngele opened the scoring in the 32nd minute as he was afforded plenty of space and time on the ball just outside the Pirates box, before unleashing a low strike which got the beating of Brighton Mhlongo.

It didn't take Eric Tinkler's side too long before Mpho Makola cancelled out Ngele strike, after a defensive error from Stars goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe saw the midfielder drill his shot into an empty net.

Ngele completed his brace when Dikwena won a free-kick just outside the Bucs box, and the Botswana international sent his effort through the wall and past Mhlongo to hand Johnson's rejuvenated team the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Bucs came out guns blazing in the second stanza as captain Manyisa levelled matters in the 48th minute after coolly trapping the ball on his chest and sending his strike past Dambe from Lennox Bacela's pass.

Ngele stole the show as he completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute to hand Dikwena the lead for the third time in the match.

Pirates showed great fighting spirit though as they found the equaliser once more with just three minutes of regulation time.

Majoro had a great opportunity to give Bucs a late winner but saw his effort in added time go over the Stars goal from three yards out.
