Absa Premiership Platinum Stars vs Bidvest Wits

Posted: 14 December 2014 Time: 15:38

Platinum Stars held Bidvest Wits to a goalless draw in an Absa Premiership match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.

The match was a frustrating one for players, coaches and supporters as there were certainly enough opportunities for goals to have been scored at either end of the field.

The sides had plenty of shots in the first half, but only two were on target and they were no trouble for goalkeepers Kabelo Dambe and Moeneeb Josephs.

There was plenty of endeavour and energy from both sides, but a lack of quality and composure in both the final pass and the shooting allowed the defences to boss the first 45 minutes.

The second half followed a similar path, though Stars certainly created chances from which the deadlock should have been broken.

The best went the way of Mahlatsi Makudubela in the 77th minute, as he got on the end of a great cross from the right flank but directed his header wide of the far post from just a couple of metres out.

Wits very nearly claimed a late winner, with Jabu Shongwe’s goal-bound header brilliantly palmed away by Kabelo Dambe to ensure the game ended in a stalemate.

Gavin Hunt is an exceptional coach really. .looking at what he has achieved in the past with ssu and to see him get this far with wits; a 3rd season in succession as no2 on the log really tells a lot about the quality of this man

If pirates can hire this guy. .they would make a great investment in him.

They can play this catching/closing the gap game they keep on talking about! Lol

Khosination I was so impressed by our 'last born' Bukenya! His a great passer of the ball and can reaf the game so well and I think with more game time he can do wonders for us!

What's your take on this one Amakhosi amahle?

Kahle kahle PSL teams have given up closing the gap behind Chiefs!

All that we see is the fight for position number 2.

Is it fair mara? Chiefs is looking for competition but no team is ready. Eish!

That "youngster" is so cool on the ball. He doesn't put himself under unnecessary pressure. It was marvel to watch the "very young" Bukenya.
