Brazil beat Colombia 2-1 in the second 2014 World Cup quarter-final. This way to read the minute-by-minute action as it happened!

FT: Brazil 2 (Silva 7' Luiz 68') Colombia 1 (Rodriguez 80'). Brazil will play Germany in the semi-finals.

95' - Ospina runs up for a free-kick at the death but it's headed over the bar. That looks like it will be that....

90' - The fourth official signals 5 minutes of stoppage time to be added...

89' - Brazil repelling Colombian pressure late on as they throw everything at the hosts, while a host of substitutions have been made, including Neymar stretchered off after he picked up what looks like a serious back injury.

80' - GOAL COLOMBIA! Rodriguez with his 6th goal of the tournament sends Cesar the wrong way.

78' - PENALTY! Cesar brings down Bacca and Colombia have a lifeline... YELLOW CARD for Cesar.

73' - Neymar curls one narrowly wide of the upright with his left foot. Decent effort.

72' - YELLOW CARD for Yepes as Estadio Castelao continues to buzz after that brilliant strike from Luis into the top-right corner.

68' - GOAL BRAZIL! David Luiz with a Didier Drogba-like free-kick from probably 35 yards! What a goal!

66' - Yepes gets the ball in the back of the net for Colombia and thinks it's 1-1 but the flag was up for offside as the free-kick was taken. Quite a late flag as well...

64' - YELLOW CARD for Thiago Silva for knocking the ball out of the goalkeeper's hands while he was punting it. Dumb way to get booked and get suspended against Germany if they win here...

60' - After a spell of Brazilian possession, Colombia finally get their foot on the ball and try some beach volleyball stuff on the edge of the box as Rodriguez sets up Guarin, but his left-footed volley is tame.

49' - Rodriquez with a neat turn to beat a marker with his back to goal but his attempted through-ball deflects back to Julio Cesar.

46' - The second half is underway. Colombia need a goal. Brazil need another goal to ease the nerves of their expectant fans. This should be good...

HT: Brazil 1 (Thiago Silva 7') Colombia 0

44' - Neymar curls a free-kick just over the bar from 20 yards out. Closer than the last one, but not enough dip to worry Ospina.

39' - Hulk finds some space on his left side in the area, pushes it past the defender before firing well wide. It's just not happening for him in this game yet...

38' - Neymar charges down Rodriquez's free-kick from 20 yards to relieve some pressure when it looked primed for the Colombian to score.

34' - Fernandinho meets Neymar's corner at the near post but glances his header high and wide. It's been a breathless first half and it's not over yet...

30' - David Luiz with a marauding run down the right, beats two players like a battering ram with a combination of blind determination and ball control! What a sight to behold...

27' - Marcelo's right-footed shot deflects off Fred as it was heading on target, then Hulk's close-range effort is saved again by Ospina, who is having a busy night!

24' - Drama now as Rodriguez has a heated argument before Brazil take a quick free-kick, then Paulinho finds himself in the area trying to beat the last defender, it's all getting a bit out of hand!

22' - Oscar is blocked off as he gets into the area to run onto a clever pass-and-leave move but the referee is not interested.

20' - Hulk plays a one-two with Neymar into the area but his shot from a tight angle is blocked by goalkeeper Ospina, who then holds Oscar's follow up shot from the edge of the area! Brazil looking dangerous.

17' - Hulk wins the ball on the edge of the area and gets into the box but is forced wide before he can put in a telling cross or shot with that powerful left foot, and the danger is cleared.

14' - Fernandinho escapes a yellow card after a late collision with Colombia's star man James Rodriguez.

11' - Cuadrado picks up the ball on the edge of the box and forces a corner with a venomous left-footed shot that takes a nick off Thiago Silva. Just wide!

10 - Guarin has a go from about 40 yards out from a free-kick but it's over the bar. Ambitious.

7 - GOAL BRAZIL! Thiago Silva sweeps home Neymar's corner unmarked at the far post! Brazil 1-0 Colombia.

5' - Neymar curls a 30-yard free-kick harmlessly wide of goal.

3' - Colombia playing in their red and dark blue away kit that looks a little too much like Chile, whom Brazil needed penalties to get past in the last 16.

1' - Brazil vs Colombia is underway at a noisy Estadio Castelao!

The teams are singing the anthems at Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza as we edge closer to kick-off. This should be a good one!

It's a match of huge significance as Germany lie in wait for the winners of this one, and the host nation expect nothing less than progression from Luis Felipe Scolari's side after they scraped through in the last 16 against Chile on penalties.

Two changes for the Samba Kings as the experienced Maicon comes in at right-back and Paulinho returns to replace the suspended Luis Gustavo, while on Colombia's side Victor Ibarbo and Fredy Guarin are the new faces that were not in their starting lineup against Uruguay in the last 16.

Brazil XI: Cesar, Maicon, Silva (c), Luiz, Marcelo, Fernandinho, Paulinho, Hulk, Oscar, Neymar, Fred

Colombia XI: Ospina, Zuniga, Zapata, Yepes (c), Armero, Cuadrado, Guarin, Sanchez, Ibarbo, Gutierrez, Rodriguez
