Algeria qualified second from Group H with one win, one draw and a loss, hanging on for a point in their final fixture against Russia to seal progress to the Last 16 for the first time in their history.
Germany are gunning for their 13th World Cup quarter-final appearance, but have history against them, having never beaten the Fennec Foxes - they lost against the Algerians in a friendly in 1964, while again suffering a defeat to the African nation in their World Cup group stage encounter in 1982.
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is the only player unavailable from either side due to flu, while fellow defender Benedikt Howedes is the only player in either starting eleven to be sitting on a yellow card.
The team line-ups have been announced:
Germany XI: Neuer, Howedes, Schweinsteiger, Ozil, Muller, Lahm (c), Mertesacker, Kroos, Gotze, Boateng, Mustafi
Algeria XI: Mbolhi, Ghoulam, Belkalem, Halliche (c), Lacen, Feghouli, Slimani, Soudani, Taider, Mandi, Mostefa
