PSL Absa Premiership: Chippa United vs University of Pretoria

Goals from Geofrey Massa and Atusaye Nyondo were enough to hand University of Pretoria a 2-1 win over Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
David Zulu pulled a goal back for Chippa early in the second half but Tuks managed to hold onto their lead to secure their first three points of the season.
Chippa paid the price for not making the most of their chances. It was a second consecutive League defeat for the Chilli Boys, who occupy ninth position on the Absa Premiership table with three points from their three games.
AmaTuks took just three minutes to open the scoring at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium when Geofrey Massa burst forward before chipping the ball over the head of the advancing Chippa goalkeeper Tshepo Motsoeneng.
Steve Barker’s side had a couple of half-chances to score again as they gave Chippa plenty to worry about on the counter-attack, but Thabo Mosadi was denied by Motsoeneng while Atusaye Nyondo shot wide of the target.
Chippa had chances through William Twala and then David Zulu, but it was Tuks who were to add a second goal on 33 minutes when Nyondo hammered in a powerful low drive after taking the ball down neatly on his chest.
The Chilli Boys had the ball in the net before half-time but Twala’s goal was ruled offside, but they did manage to pull a goal back five minutes after the restart when Joseph Molangoane set up Zulu to score.
With AmaTuks prepared to sit back and soak up the pressure, the game became heated as Chippa continued to miss guilt-edged chances, leading to frustration, some physical confrontations and a series of yellow cards.
Kosta Papic’s side had some decent chances to draw level, but Zulu had his effort saved by Washington Arubi, who also denied Mbhuyiselo Sambu.
Tuks substitute Denvver Mukamba could have made the game safe for the visitors but was unable to make use of two chances that came his way midway through an absorbing second stanza.
As the game moved into the final 10 minutes the pressure on the AmaTuks goal increased, but despite several efforts on goal by Andile Mbenyane the Chilli Boys were unable to snatch a point.
