My Music: Nathan Paulse

Posted: 12 April 2016 Time: 09:06

It’s almost time for the 2016 South African Music Awards. We caught up with Ajax Cape Town striker Nathan Paulse to see what he’s listening to.

First local album you ever bought: The first album I bought was probably TKZee – one of his first albums, I can’t remember the title.

Last concert/music show you attended: That was probably in Stockholm – I attended the John Legend concert, in 2008 I think!

What are you currently listening to: I listen to house.

What is your own musical experience; e.g. do you or have you ever wanted to play an instrument or DJ: I know how to DJ as I have family and friends in the industry. I used to play the drums, but I sold my drumset – it was an expensive toy to have!

Who is you favourite local artist: At the moment it would be Chad Saaiman and Jimmy Nevis.

Who do you think will be the next big thing in on the local music scene: That’s a tough one! Look, I don’t think he’s up and coming, but he’s already big – I’d say Jimmy Nevis.

Favourite local song: Jimmy Nevis – ‘7764’ – it’s the zip code for Athlone, where I’m from, so it’s my favourite song because it’s also my birthplace.
