adidas unveils Urban Football Boot

Posted: 27 October 2016 Time: 15:53

adidas South Africa has unveiled the Urban Football Boot, an interpretation of the X boot, specifically designed for the cage and the streets.

Introduced in 2015, the X boot was created for the player who causes chaos, the spark that ignites the game and the one who defies the rules. The new Urban Boot is for the X player who creates magic in the cage and brings fire to the streets.

The Urban Boot is designed for the player who dominates at Fives Futbol, takes over the streets or bosses the cage.

“We have seen an increase in the number of players who don’t only play the game in traditional surroundings like grass pitches and stadiums, but have taken the game to the streets. This boot is made for them.” said Adrian de Souza, head of football at adidas South Africa.

To launch the boots to the public, a Fives Street Pop Up is set to take place for the first time in JHB Metro on the 12th November 2016. The event which boasts urban activities such as Breaking, Graffiti, Freestyling and Street Soccer, will play host to 20, 3v3 soccer teams

Competing in a winners-stay-on, one-goal-and-off, street tournament, this format provides a fast, tactical and exciting football experience that brings the game back to its roots.

This year, for the first time ever, Fives Street will introduce an adidas steel cage. The likes of Youngsta, DJ Switch, Ginger Bread Man, DJ Speedsta and DJ Yanga will be performing at the event. For more information on the event, please go to www.fives-street.co.za

The Urban Football boots will be available on 1 November on adidas’ e-commerce platform (www.adidas.co.za/football) adidas Own retail stores, and at selected football specialists across the country, at a retail price of R1199.
