Sthembiso Ngcobo was the hero as Kaizer Chiefs hammered Orlando Pirates 3-0 to win the Telkom Knockout on Saturday night at the FNB Stadium.

The former Free State Stars marksman warned sent an early warning to the jittery Pirates defence. It was as early as the second minute when Ngcobo broke free wide on the right and crossed and Bucs' sloppy defence allowed Josta Dladla space in the box to shoot, but his mistimed attempt went past the upright.

However, in the 11th minute Ngcobo was back in the picture and this time Bucs' defence was punished.

Moeneeb Josephs received a sloppy back pass from Robyn Johannes and dilly-dallied before trying to clear while slipping and the ball fell to Ngcobo on the edge of the box and the latter drew first blood with a low shot to put Amakhosi 1-0 ahead.

The error prone Bucs defence again almost gifted Amakhosi a second in the 27th minute, when Rooi Mahamutsa attempted to dribble in the box and lost possession, but Chiefs couldn't capitalize. To compound Pirates' woes Mahamutsa was booked for a foul on Knowledge Musona in Chiefs' own half, which infuriated the Bucs fans.

There was some hope for Bucs, though, when Happy Jele's powerful header appeared to beat Itumeleng Khune in the 38th minute, but ‘Spiderkid' produced an acrobatic save to deny Pirates. Josta Dladla, who was instrumental for Chiefs, showed he could match Jele's header on the stroke of halftime, but he too saw his attempt hit the roof of the net ending the first half 1-0 to Chiefs.

Siphiwe Tshabalala picked up where Chiefs left off when his shot in the 50th minute, from the left, was blocked by Jele for a corner.

Krol then gave in to Bucs fans' call for substitutions when he brought in Katlego Mashego in the 56th minute for an ineffectual Ezenwa Otorogu, who was up against the brilliant Chiefs defence, manned by Valery Nahayo, who was excellent and four minutes later Tlou Segolela entered the fray and Andile Jali was out.

Unsurprisingly, the Amakhosi fans were delighted with Krol's decision, perhaps a hint Krol had made the wrong move.

In the 64th minute Ngcobo justified his team's supporters mocking of Krol when his header beat Josephs from a Punch Masenamela cross and there was no way back for the Buccaneers.

Siphiwe Tshabalala hammered the final nail into Bucs' coffin smashing a shot from the left and the 91 727 fans, mostly draped in Chiefs colours, were up on their feet as they saluted their team's emphatic win.

Pirates should realise that their team is boring to watch, and please be consistent wit your criticism, krol was the messiah not so long ago, mbuyani was the juju man not so long ago, klate exceeded all expectations (Hahahahaha), tlou was the super-sub, pirates was bucselona- there was nothing wrong wit being predictable but manje sekwenzenjani? where was jali? you see what happens when you over exaggerate average performance?
Anyways chiefs was only better because they managed to score either than that, another boring game gone by.

Super performance by Chiefs. Musona's hassling of Moeneeb paid off handsomely. Ngobe really brimmed with confidence after the goal and his second was a beauty. Tshabalala really likes that side of the field and it was really wonderful to see that strike. Chiefs all round better unit than Pirates. Well done Chiefs.

Congratulations to chiefs. As usual Karolo did have a game plan going to this game. Why employ 4-51 formation? Couldnt he see that Mbuyane, Mabalane and Musona's terrible twin Klate were 'official spectators? Infact, i am tempted to believe those who say derby is not for everyone. Klate doesnt have big match temperament. Johannes: basics of defending: after playing a backpass, open for the keeper so he has another option.Vicks Vaporub knew he was up against a tactically bankrupt coach which is why he was over-confident since monday leading up to the game. Oupa Manyisa against chiefs i mean really now. Jali, why subsitute him? Mashego came in but there was no supply because the person who was supposed to that was taken off, Jali. Some of the bloggers including all psl trophies predicted that . Karolo will indirectly hand their team this trophy because of poor tactics. Bucaneers came in large numbers bt one man let them down.

I honestly see no problem with our players but this stupid Kromo that sticks with such a rigid formation when the circumstances dictate that he needs to adapt. From the word go, the starting lineup, the formation and the approach was wrong period.

Any defense that is constantly attacked is bound to crack at some stage, thats what happened yesterday. To avoid that you need to win the midfield battle and need soldiers to do that.And that can only happen if your rearguard joins in with your midfield to win that battle. Yesterday we saw a disintegrated formation with a conservative defensive approach that left the midfield fighting a packed Chiefs midfield with only Jali and Ngobeni, what were they supposed to do.Our defenders I strongly believe they were told to stay put at the back, did you see Jele making any run, I dont think so.There was no synergy between the defence, midfield and attack.

The stupid tactically bankrupt coach decides to give special attention to Musona instead of intensifying his midfield with numbers, the rest is history, it really felt like we were playing a league game and only 3 points was at stake.

As for Mbuyane and Manyisa, they must go with the coach. As for Mabalane, the jury is still out, he can be an ordinary player close to Mbuyane.

Poor Jali and Otorogu, they are human sacrifices for the worst substitutions I have ever seen in this lifetime. This coach is malicious, our bench was thin without hope. He deliberately omitted Modise, Msowoya and Mayambela from his bench, which were better options for substitutions.

Must say, Chiefs reminded me of the good old days under Papic, when I would not mind to lose.
