Orlando Pirates lose to Recreativo do Libolo of Angola
Bucs lose Champs League opener
Posted: Feb 19 2012
It was a disappointing result for Orlando Pirates, as they were beaten 3-1 by Recreativo do Libolo of Angola in their first CAF Champions League match.
The game was played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
Rooi Mahamutsa scored a consolation goal deep in injury time, but it was too little too late.
Maieco Domingos Henrique bagged a brace for Libolo, scoring in the 12th and 16th minute.
Henri Camara scored just after the hour mark to make it 3-0, before Mahamutsa scored in the final seconds.
The result will not please club chairman Irvin Khoza, who is known to be very keen for Bucs to take the Champions League once more.
The teams face each other again in the second leg on the weekend of March 2-4.
Scorers
Pirates: Rooi Mahamutsa (93)
Recreativo do Libolo: Maieco Domingos Henrique (12, 16), Henri Camara (62)
