Nigeria international striker Obafemi Martins could move to Spanish side Levante

Nigeria international striker Obafemi Martins may be on the verge of a move to Spain.

Reports in the Spanish media have linked Martins with a move to La Liga side Levante.

The Spanish club are keen to bolster their attacking options having lost the services of Arouna Kone their top scorer for last to Wigan.

Manager of the club Ignacio Martinez is keen to land the Nigerian striker on loan, but his Russian club Rubin Kazan are only interested in selling Martins outright.

Martins has endured a frustrating spell at Kazan having been plagued by injuries and several off field problems.

The striker was recently demoted to the reserve team after a clash with a teammate, and prior to that he was hardly ever guaranteed of a place in the starting line up despite his pre season form which saw him score 8 goals in 13 games, as well as creating the assist for the goal that helped his club win the Russian Super Cup.

Martins was recently linked with a move to EPL side West Bromwich Albion, as well as a host of clubs in China and Italy.

Levante are believed to be willing to take Martins on a season long loan, with an option to purchase at the end of the season.

@nespray, Wait, wait, wait, aren't we talking about football here? Well, where are your players internationally? Are your clubs even doing well in Africa? Wasn't it your precious Orlando Pirate that lost to an Angolan club at ACL? Your best international player is at Everton is he not? I also sense a little insecurity since your going off topic.

Austin Okocha is better than all South African footballers put together from the 1st century, now and the generation un-born. Please , South Africans , you can insult Nigeria in other facets of life but don't talk about football. You won '96 Afcon because you made sure (through desperate politics) that Nigeria didn't participate.
