The world's biggest spenders

Real Madrid are the top spenders in European and world football, having spent over R1 000-billion in the last decade on transfer fees, as revealed by Marca.
There is no other club on the planet that has come close to this figure, despite Roman Abramovich's best efforts at Chelsea and Manchester City's new found extravagance.
President Florentino Perez took over in 2000 and has been in the presidential throne at the club for all but three years in the last decade, when Ramon Calderon took over the role in 2006.
This season's reinforcements have tipped the total over the R10 000-million mark with the signings of Sami Khedira, Sergio Canales, Pedro Leon and Angel Di Maria costing just overR500-million.
Over the course of the decade los Blancos have spent huge sums of money on single transfers. Cristiano Ronaldo (R960m), Zinedine Zidane (R720m) and Kaka (R640m) are the three most expensive of a total of 48 signings.
Last season two of those, Ronaldo and Kaka, contributed to a whopping R2,5billion being spent in one year.
In comparison, Barcelona have spent R7-billion while Roman Abramovich spent R6-billion over the same period with Chelsea.
However, Manchester City have begun a Madrid-type spending spree over the last three years totalling R4-billion in the Premier League.
