Australian A-League club Gold Coast United have signed Australian international striker Bruce Djite as a replacement for Shane Smeltz, officials said on Thursday.

Djite, 23, who has played for Australia nine times, is returning home after playing for Turkish Super League club Genclerbirligi SK.

Djite, who scored 11 goals in two seasons with Adelaide United in the A-League before he left for Turkey, replaces New Zealand international Smeltz, who is heading the other way to Genclerbirligi.
