Platinum Stars insist there is no substance to reports linking Bidvest Wits with a last minute swoop on defender Vuyo Mere.

The transfer window will close at 17h00 this evening and a number of clubs are already making last minute signings as they brace for the resumption of the League title chase in February.

Mere's contract runs out in June and there has been speculation that the former Mamelodi Sundowns player might sign for the Clever Boys, who are well known for recruiting experienced players.

Under coach Cavin Johnson, Mere has been playing some of his best football and this has made him an attractive prospect to a number of other local clubs.

But in a chat with, Platinum Stars general manager Jason Raine sets the record straight: "There has been no official enquiry for Mere from Wits and the player is not going anywhere. These reports are just rumours."

Dikwena are hoping tie down a number of their players whose contracts will run out at the end of the current season.

The clubs Bafana Bafana midfielder Thuso Phala is on the wanted list of both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs as well as unnamed clubs from Germany.
