Stevanovic future in frame as GFA meets

The Ghana Football Association will kick off a series of meetings today as they determine the future of Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic.

The Serbian's future hangs in the balance after Ghana's failure to win the 2012 Nations Cup.

And even though he promised to resign if Ghana failed to reach the final of the Nations Cup, Stevanovic is refusing to quit.

His critics say the Serbian is merely forcing the hands of the GFA so he will be given a pay out just in case of the sack.

Whatever the motives are, there are nouns to be some heated discussions before Stevanovic and the GFA address the media on Wednesday.

Before then the five member emergency committee of the GFA will meet to delibrate on the coach's future with two of them having already questioned his competence publicly.

On Tuesday he will face the larger executive committee who could have the final say in his future.

KickOffGhana understands that while there is opinion is heavily against retaining the Serbian at the executive committee of the GFA, the president of the body Kwesi Nyantekyie is in favour of retaining him especially with another Nations Cup to play next year and world cup qualifiers due to start in June.

Money could play a key role in the decision to fire Stevanovic or not. Some reports claim Ghana will have to part with $1.8-million just to get rid of the Serbian but some members of the executive committee have strongly challenged those figures.

What is more likely is that Ghana could be forced to pay him off for the final year of his contract which will come to €360,000 at his current deal of €30,000 a month.
