Andre Ayew dismisses suggestions of rift in Ghana camp

Ayew dismisses suggestions of rift

Posted: 2012-02-13 21:58

Andre Dede Ayew has dismissed suggestions he is feuding with several members of the Black Stars squad and is confident Ghana will eventually win the long elusive Nations Cup title.

Ayew was one of the few players to emerge from the competition in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea with his reputation enhanced, but there have been suggestions in the local media that he does not get on well with several of his teammates.

He has flatly denied that, especially concerning his relationship with midfielder Anthony Annan, and says the whole squad was united by a desire to end Ghana's trophy wait.

“You get into a competition with a lot of desire and ambition," Ayew said. "We really wanted to bring the cup to Ghana but we did not do what we had to do on the pitch which was to take our chances. We are very disappointed. We are going to erase the mistakes; we are going to move forward to make the nation proud."

And Ayew is hoping they can continue to get the backing and support of Ghanaians.

“I hope Ghanaians will continue to support us and hope that in the next matches we can make the nation proud.”

Ghana's next international is a friendly against Chile in New Jersey, USA on February 29th 2012, before they begin their 2012 World Cup qualifiers on June3 with a home a tie against Lesotho and an away trip to new African champions Zambia the following week.

No smoke without fire. Most of our young players in Africa has this problem of stardom. Reminds me of Benny's behaviour.

My broda, stop daydreaming about winning the afcon title. You don't have ateam do that for now. When you have the likes of Ivory Coast,Zambia, Senegal, Tunisia,Egypt, Cameroun, Nigeria and host of the next edition of afcon you can only continue to day dream. You guys have started again, playing football with your mouth mind you the qualifiers are yet to begin. Pray you don;t have Guinea or Mali and even Nigeria in your group during the qualifiers, then you will understand why you may not even qualify.

Skepe Mketule: 2012-02-14 09:52

gents correct me , is Ghana in the same group with Zambia for 2014 SWC, if that so Zambia all the way to Brasil.

2013 Afcon Ayew will be crack my boy, its going to be extremely hot hot hot, you need to weigh yourself amongst these:
1. Nigeria- wounded lion
2. Cameroon - wounded lion
3. Egepty - wounded lion
4. IC- wounded lion
5. Zambia- defending champs
6. SA- coach on serious warning
7. mali- got no.3 need to retain their position
8. Algeria- strong contender
9. Senegal- will be back strong
10. Guinea- are wounded

So, you weigh yourself may be your juju must be expensive

Is the Ghanian Kickoff so numbed by the copper bullet defeat that they are yet to get the story that is stale? Get it, Zambia is the New African Kings. The black soot was a disaster!

i still dey!: 2012-02-14 11:41

Some of u guys i'd presume have nothing to do so u just come on here to utter b.s. this kid, whether Ghana wins the afcon or not will win lots of trophies and achieve more than most of u will achieve in ur lifetime. And now those that dont have the slightest idea what footbal is about are adding zambia to the powerful football nations in africa.Greece won the euro 2004,does that make them a strong footy nation in europe?the answer is a big no cos they've barely made it out of their group in the subsequent editions.Senegal was a flash in the pan in 2001-2002,yet ppl think they r a strong football nation.Football is abt pedigree which some countries simply dont have, thats why its the same countries that dominate world football all the time, cos even when they have a slight dip in form they quickly rectify it.And for my nigerian brothers, pls dont take this football rivalry too far cos at the end of the day we r not enemies and i dont think argentina supports brazil in world cup final matches cos no body wants their rivals to be better than themselves.take a moment to think about it,its just football rivalry, nothing more nothing less.

jibab: 2012-02-14 13:51

@ i still dey, happi now you are realising football rivalry when not check can cause havoc than deadly disease.I therefore support your notions that we should check our language and insults of other nations as we share our ideas about this beautiful game that brings our continent together.God bless africa.

Cobby: 2012-02-14 14:18

First of all, i would like to congratulate our dear brothers from Zambia for the good show they gave this competition and won. To the Naija brothers in here, I will say, concerntrate rather on ur own team, and let GH concerntrate on hers. Leaving KON to KOG to write silly things won't help ur team.
Now to those, who say a foreign coach can never win the african cup, I say, come again!!!
@ Podium... Let me first some sense of life into ur empty head. Without dreams, you can't achieve anything!! So my brother, have a dream in ur life and work hard to achieve that dream, else you will 4ever be a typical nigerian, not knowing his left from right, hating anything thats is better, and always accusing fingers at others... Have a dream brother!!

Ken: 2012-02-14 15:29

I like your confidence. you will surely get there God willing. try even harder!

jibab: 2012-02-14 17:50

@cobby,typical this typical that for how long my brother?but i think you are right to certain extend because they are not cowards not like some country that seems to know everthing on this planet yet achieve little.when you say hate it's amuses me because the nigerian i know does not hate infacts they appericiate good things.please do away with rivalry let us comments positively,we can even mocks at some of our teams that does not performed to our expectation but,pls insutls and name calling should not be the other of the day.nigerian brother take note as well.God bless Africa.

london-man: 2012-02-14 18:18

i still dey & co why are blaming Nigerians for intruding into kog to comment? you should stop blaming Naija people for doing so because it is your fellow Ghanaians that started it when all they know is to abuse and insult Nigerians by calling them names. You should not forget that it is your fellow Ghanaians that first rename super eagle to super chicken simply because they defeated nigerian team. So nigerians has every right to mock at the self-claimed Giant of african for there woeful failure to win the trophy they boasted for. Shame on you idiots

ikechukwu: 2012-02-14 19:08

To be sincere i really wants both the nigeria and ghana fans to know these, cameroun, egypt and nigeria not qualifying for d afcon 2012 does not mean they are not strong countries in africa.Take it or leave it nigeria, ghana, cameroun and ivory coast are truly african kings in football.forget about south africa for now they are still learning. The north africans are good locally, but when u mention african teams performing well internationally, nigeria, ghana, cameroun and ivory coast stands out.CAF will not put these countries together for the afcon 2013 qualifying.

Nwa Owerri: 2012-02-14 23:37

Ghana started this rubbish in 2008 by calling our team Super Chickens . How dare u ? Why are bu people complaining now ? U dare not mock a country like Nigeria and go away with it !

I was so happy when ghana got beaten by zambia. As a nigerian i never wanted ghana to win the competion cuz i hate ghana.

TeellThemm: 2012-02-15 10:43

@i still dey
You should forward your ****ysis to your FA chairman, if he had known what you know, he would not have open his mouth and says Nigeria, Egypt and Cameroon is no longer giant of African football because they didn't make it this last edition of nation cup. Tell him and Micheal oti Adjei to ****yze football without sentiment.

i still dey!: 2012-02-16 15:01

@thompson
u r a nobody so nobody cares abt who u hate.in short as far as i am concerned u a non-entity so keep ur thoughts to urself.if u can hate a whole country because of football,it shows how much of a low life u are.there r so many things abt Nigeria and even Ghana too that i do not like, but will i ever hate any of these countries? NO! Afterall ,even the United States has its bad aspects so i have one thing to say to u, shut that trash can of urs u call a mouth up.
