Mensah won't give up international football

Posted: 2012-02-09 13:44

John Mensah will not give in to calls to quit international football after injuries marred his 2012 Nations Cup.

The defender scored two goals for Ghana in five games and proved a rock at the back when he played but also had to deal with injuries during the competition.

Injuries have marred Mensah's club career too having denied him game time at Olympique Lyon since he returned there on loan from Sunderland.

Despite the injury interruptions, Mensah is confident he has more years in me at international level.

“I get injured a lot and that is not my fault,” he said.

“It even happens to up and coming footballers so I cannot go there and injure myself like that.

“I still have much time to play football but it all depends on the coach, he calls players to play.”

He wants to win the afcon by all means. Anyway, by the time he is 55 years or more he can then win the afcon. This time around Ghana cannot win the afcon.
