After reaching the quarter-finals of their debut Africa Cup of Nations, co-hosts Equatorial Guinea have decided to extend the contract of coach Gilson Paulo for a year.
The Brazilian was hired only a few weeks ago when former trainer Henri Michel resigned after being unhappy with the way in which things were run within the football association.
The 62-year-old was originally only given a two-month contract, but impressive performances at the ongoing Afcon have yielded wins over Senegal and Libya, prompting the authorities to reward him with an extension.
The Equatorial Guinea government's official website confirmed the contract extension, while revealing that his salary is $15,000 (€11,352) a month.
Equatorial Guinea are making their debut at the tournament, and in their final Group A match on Sunday, they narrowly lost 1-0 to Zambia.
