Nigeria coach Samson Siasia says they deserve all insults they get

Siasia: We deserve the insults

Posted: 2011-10-10 11:48

Nigeria coach Samson Siasia says his team deserve all the insults thrown their way by fans after failing to qualify for next year's African Nations Cup.

The Super Eagles gave up a late goal to draw 2-2 with Guinea and miss out on qualification, with fan abuse trailing them since.

Siasia says the team deserve it.

"We deserve all the insults we are getting. In the end, we failed to qualify and that hurt the fans, so they have a right to be angry," Siasia said.

"We are also hurt, because as much as the fans wanted to see us at the Nations Cup, it pains us more than it pains them.

"We have young players who were looking forward to their first Nations Cup. We have experienced ones who wanted to return there to challenge again.

"We have found it hard to sleep because everyone is thinking about what happened."

But Siasia says the team can take comfort from the progress that has been made in a short time.

"In the few months we have been here, the team has grown younger, we are tactically stronger, we play the ball quicker than before, we create more than 7 chances in every game and we have not failed to score more than two goals. Except for the friendly against Argentina.

"So this team is doing well. It was just a communication problem at the end. We thought we were going through at 2-1, but we were not sure if that was enough, and we didn't want to take  any chances that’s why we were pushing. Otherwise, we could have held on at 2-1."

Siasia's future remains uncertain, with the NFF having issued him an administrative query in their quest for answers, but the coach says he is prepared for the worst.

"It is not in my hands now. Whatever the NFF decide, we will accept. If they want us to stay, we will carry on rebuilding this team in the right way.

"If they don't, we will say thank you and move on. That is the way football works."

The Nigeria team face arch rivals Ghana on Tuesday in London, and Siasia says an immediate response is imperative.

"We have to put what happened behind us. There is nothing we can do about it. We just have to learn from our mistakes and make sure we play a good game and win against Ghana."

Colin Udoh

Solution to super eagles in-envisage problems

We have all offended an innocent man and God’s wrath is on us.
A man who qualified us to two world cups without losing a single match yet was disgraced and bundled out because NFF whose tenor was ending needed white man to make dollar commission from before leaving.

He Picked us from 45th fifa ranking where we were languishing and left us at number 15.
Today we are at 50 and will drop to 70 after 2010 because others have competitions to attend while we remain idle.
Curse me if you wish. NFF should write an appology letter to Amodu and God will forgive us.
There is no way Amodu wouldn’t have qualified us to the ANC or fail to qualify frm that 2011 world cup cheap group.
We will only be running from pillar to post only Winning argentina and probably beat ghana tommorro.
But when the real thing comes. We fumble
Amodu’s nemesis. You can say that again.

DANARCHY IS BACK

Jesus said if you do not forgive men of their sin neither will God forgive you of your sin. Siasia your bloated ego and pride cost us direly by not fielding our best hands Vincent Enyeama. You desired to make a statement at all cost, and it has cost us everything. We lost precious money in the tune of millions, we lost our pride, and we lost a sporting event we so much cherished as a nation. The biggest problem is that it was avoidable, only if you have learned to be humble even as a leader. Your draconian rule that sees and hears no reason has come to fly in your face. You created and nurtured the atmosphere that manifested itself today, DO YOU HONESTLY EXPECT 100% COMMITMENT TO PLAYERS THAT YOU ABUSED OPENLY TO THE POINT OF DISGRACE AND OPEN PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT? You refused to accept "apologies" even when you didn't deserve one, and yet you will not yield to reason or common sense, and allow national interest to override your personal egos and self-pitied pride. Siasia are you really serious asking for apologies? Does that word apology actually mean anything to you, when you refused to accept one, even when it was not deserving? I still have FAITH in our current Eagle Squad, the only one good thing Siasia is good at, is being a good scout for new talents, but in the case of coaching he is of "C" class. We need an "A" class coach, I think Steven Keshi will do us better otherwise we should look for a messiah outside our shore. Good Bye Siasia as a coach, but we can retain you as a scout. In Eagles I still believe and trust. SACK THAT IMPOSTER SIASIA NOW. WE NEED A TRAINED COACH, FORMER PLAYER WITHOUT COACHING SKILLS AND TRAINING DOES NOT EQUATE A COACH.

Last time your Super eagles knocked my Country(Zambia) in the quater finals in what was a very tense encounter. I was praying that the two are paired again somewhere. Sorry guys, you will just have to watch how we are going to beat Ghana then. One more thing, try to keep your coaches. Your team is not as good as you want to think. I cant believe that was your best eleven out of the 150m Nigerians!!!!

I WANT EACH AND EVERY SIASIA FANS AND SUPPORTERS TO TELL ME WHAT MAKE SIASIA A GOOD COACH!
(1) IS IT BECAUSE HE USED OVER AGE PLAYERS AND WON AFRICA UNDER 20?
(2) IS IT BECAUSE HE USED OVER AGE PLAYERS AND GET TO UNDER 20 WORLD CUP FINAL AND HE WAS BEATEN?
(3) IS IT BECAUSE HE USED OVER AGE PLAYERS AND GET TO UNDER 23 OLYMPIC FINAL AND HE WAS BEATEN?
(4)HE WAS GIVING HEARTLAND FOOTBALL CLUB WHICH HE FAILED TO TAKE THEM TO AFRICAN CHAMPION LEAGUE FINAL?
(5)NFF GAVE HIM SUPER EAGLE WHERE THERE'S NO AGE RESTRICTION AND HE FAILED US?
(6)HOW CAN WE FORGIVE SIASIA WHILE HE FAILED TO FORGIVE VINCENT ENYEAMA?

SIASIA DOES NOT HAVE SPIRIT OF FORGIVENESS.THE WHOLE WORLD HAVE SEEN HIS EGO AND ARROGENCE.IT'S ONLY FOOLISH PERSON WILL COME OVER HERE TO DEFEND SIASIA.TO ME,I DONT SEE ANY THING THAT MAKES SIASIA SPECAIL.A MYOPIA WILL TELL US THAT HE IS NOT THE ONE THAT STARTED THE GAMES OF HEARTLAND FOOTBALL CLUB AND SUPER EAGLE QUALIFICATION MATCH AT THE FIRST PLACE,WHICH IS NOT EXCUSES TO ME.

I REMEMBER WHEN CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB WAS FAILING APART AND GUSS HIDDINK CAME IN AND TURN THINGS AROUND WITH-IN ONE WEEK,THAT IS WHAT WE CALLED A GOOD COACH.

TEACHER DONT TEACH ME NONSENSE...HE WAS TALKING ABOUT INDISCIPLINE,WHILE FORGETTING THAT HE IS REAPING WHAT HE SOWED....DURING SIASIA TIME AS A PLAYER HE WAS STUBBORN AND ARROGANT THAT IS THE REASONS CLEMENS WESTERHOF DIDN'T USE HIM THAT MUCH,EVEN WHEN AMOKACHI AND AMUNEKE GOT INJURED IN USA 94,WESTERHOF STILL BENCH HIM,WHILE EVERY BODY KNOW THAT SIASIA IS THE RIGHT PLAYER TO REPLACE THEM DURING THE MATCH AGAINST ITALIANS.

COMING TO NIGERIA VS GUINEA MATCH:WHAT A GOOD COACH COULD HAVE DONE WHEN THE MATCH WAS 2-1 IS TO KEEP ON PLAYING LIKE THAT BECAUSE WE STILL HAVE A BIG CHANCE TO QUALIFY OR AS HE WANT TO BRING IN EKIGHO EHIOSUN FOR JOEL OBI....HE COULD HAVE TELL FENGOR OGUDE TO TAKE-OVER DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD AND MOVE EMENIKE OR ANY OF THE STRIKERS TO THE RIGHT-BACK,WHILE EKIGHO EHIOSUN STAY AS THE POINT-MAN SO THAT HE WILL USE HIS STRENGTH AND POWER TO DISTURB THE GUINEA DEFENDERS.

GHANINA UNDER 23 COACH NEEDED A GOAL AGAINST US IN THEIR HOME AND HE GOT IT.AMODU NEEDED AWAY WIN AGAINST KENYA IN WORLD CUP QUALIFY MATCH AND HE GOT IT.WHILE SIAISA CAN NOT GIVE US ONE GOAL TO QUALIFY US......TO ME,SIASIA IS ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE AND NFF NEED TO KICK HIM OUT.

WE FAIL TO QUALIFY...WE CAN STILL REAP GOOD RESULTS OUT OF THIS FAILURE IF WE LEARN SOMETHING FROM IT. FIRST...ISSUING A QUERY TO SIASIA IS A WRONG ACTION...THE TEAM FAILED THOUGH SIASIA IS A GOOD COACH, THE PLAYERS ARE GOOD, THE NFF DID THEIR BEST THIS TIME AROUND...WHAT WENT WRONG...MAN MANAGEMENT. I SAID IT EARLIER THAT THE WAY NFF IS SUPPORTING SIASIA IN EXCESSIVE PUNISHMENT OF THE PLAYERS, THEY SHOULD ALSO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IF ANY FAILURE ARISE...SO NFF...YOU ARE BOUND TO SUPPORT SIASIA IN THIS TIME OR BOTH YOU AND SIASIA WILL GO...COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY...ENYEAMA IS OUR N0. 1 KEEPER...HE GOOFED AND REALIZED IT AND APOLOGISE IMMEDIATELY...YOU SANCTIONED HIM AGAINST MADAGASCAR AND AGAINST AGENTINA...THE RESULT AGAINST ARGENTINA WHO FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BEAT ENYEAMA AT THE WORLD CUP WOULD HAVE BEING AN EYE OPENER...I SAW THE WAY THE GOAL KEEPER SCRAMBLED THE 2ND GOAL INTO THE NET FOR GUINEA...KAITA, AND THE OTHER FULHAM GUY HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT OF THE TEAM...MAN MANAGEMENT...EVERY PLAYER IN EAGLES IS AN ADULT WHO CAN EXPRESS HIMSELF...ANY ATTEMPT TO TAKE AWAY THAT ABILITY TO SELF EXPRESSION WILL BACKFIRE...THE RIGHT CHANNEL MUST BE FOLLOWED IN EXPRESSION, IF THEIR IS ONE...IF A SON SIN...CHASTISE HIM AND DRAW HIM BACK INTO YOUR BOSSOM...WESTERHOF SPENT BETWEEN 1990 AND 1994 TO BUILD THE EAGLES WE ALL REMEMBER NOW...SIASIA NEEDS TIME...LET'S MANAGE OUR TEAM BUILDING WELL.

I think the fan should be blamed not siasia or the Nff, because Keshi was a better coach by far but we have the tradition of supporting people blindly based on sentiments just like what happened during the presidential election. The fan were agitating for sia 1 as they used to call him and now i wonder who will be the sia2. What a Shame

FreedomXpress: 2011-10-10 13:20

"We have to put what happened behind us," said Siasia, how come he didn't let issues with Vincent Enyeama behind him so we could win this most important game of our lives, but his ego override his sense of duty and patriotic call at the most critical time in our soccer history, now he wants to move on, but with whom. Please Siasia resign if you are honorable, firing you may ruin your chance seeking a coaching job in Mauritania, becuase no club in Nigeria will want your service again, a man that put his ego above everything else.

This man Siasia is so arrogant! As a 'seasoned' coach you can't attack all the time, pushing all your men upfront without taking note of your opponent's counter attack. That is a flimsy, stupid and arrogant excuse. This guy should be disciplined too like he did to Enyeama. Excuse of 2-1 is stupid and not acceptable. Billion Original

@potential20, it is not a matter of abusing the man of God. The issue is that how did we come to this? What is most important to the men of God? the prediction of the game of soccer or the winning of soul. We are many men of God in the country and the country is going down by the day. Check the dailies, you will see a lot of bad news. And some of these government officials visit the men of God in their closet. They cannot sit them down and talk senses to them.

If he predicts and it comes to pass, the name of God is not in anyway glorified. An unbeliever will hear him and say that man na real prophet ooo. It does not change the heart of an unbeliever. And I still insist there is something fishy: nobody and I repeat nobody gave this version of the prophesy before the match. All that has been written is that two teams will be fighting for one goal. Nobody gave the version of whoever scores first carries the day. At the end of the day, a negative atmosphere was created around the team. The players that should have concentrated on their games were jittery and started misfiring and today, we are discussing the efficacy of a prophesy. I need prophesy on the nation Nigeria. If Nigeria does well, it will affect all spheres of life. Let's leave soccer and face the real thing.

The way things are going. Players will soon start having personal witch doctors if we do not stress the need of hardwork and administrative efficiency. How can we reduce national assignment to a situation where prophets will be called to pray for the team? Did the prophet called do it free of charge? Cant he be in his house and pray and God answers, at least the players pray before matches also. Why is it that we are the most spiritual and we keep on having problems day by day. Why can we not have question and answer sessions in our churches as it is in other places where members can ask questions to know more about God? Why are our pastors often like imperialists? When the national soccer team is reduced to how efficient the prophet or witch doctor of the team is, there can be one loser at the end of the day: the whole team.

Siasia and his team disgraced the whole Nigeria. The NFF knew that Siasia is not compitent enogh to handle the Super Eagles.Look Guinea as small as they are and as poor as they are but still they have a foreign coach. When will Nigeria be wise enough. The defeat is good for us and the insult is deserved.

Nigeria national football team coach Samson Siasia has launched a verbal attack on the Ghanaian football body and its fans.

Siasia who will be facing the Black stars of Ghana on Tuesday is angry that Ghanaians are calling on the Black stars to beat Nigeria after the Super Eagle’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Guinea that knocked them out of next year’s African cup of Nations.

Speaking to DWFA. com, the visibly upset Siasia expressed his angered towards Ghanaian fans in general. Siasia claims he gave Ghana a lot to laugh about on Sa****ay afternoon and it is time they repay him by letting him win the match on Tuesday to keep his job.

” I can’t believe what I have been hearing from the Ghanaian press. I gave Ghana a lot to entertained themselves with. It is not easy to make sure a team like the Super Eagles miss out on a big tournament like that. They[Ghanaians] want to beat us again? For what?”

He then went on to call the Ghanaian football community ungrateful while pleading to the Black stars to have pity on him. ” These fans are ungrateful. I gave them an entertaining afternoon and it is time for them to pay me by letting me keep my job. I hope the players we meet on Tuesday will have mercy on my team and not increase the unemployment rate” said a very disappointed Siasia.

Both Ghana and Nigeria arrived in London on Sunday morning and trained in the late afternoon.

Kickoff for the game is at 1400 GMT.

red skin: 2011-10-10 14:27

Siasia is overrated and is inundated with inordinate pride, self seeking and always cared to be glorified.

Prior to the Junior WC in Egypt, we already had a good standing team, world beaters in Tella's boys but was just lacking in sound technicality in Ladan Bosso. However immediately Siasia was appointed, instead of him to use an already established and proven boys that has been together for years (maybe add one or two players) he dissolved the team and quickly made it a team in transition in such a short time to the championship, building a new team on Ighalo, Aluko and co, out of sort strange bed fellows. Some never met all their life talk less of blending as a team. That championship exposed his tactical deficiency but I thought is was just a happenstance.

The super Eagles job gave me more opportunity to watch his tactical prowess more closely and I can say that he is nothing close to the Messiah many wrongly thought he is. He took up the SE appointment when the qualifiers are already underway, why disband a standing team again to build a completely new team in the midst of the qualifiers?
What is wrong with the WC team? You should have only brought in Mikel,IK Uche, Anichebe and Emenike and continue from where the Swede stopped and perhaps rebuild gradually
But trust Siasia, he started building again in a hurry and went for his boys even when most of them are underperforming, bringing in Isaac Promise, the two Okoronkwo's and so on but for the outcry of many fans.

Why discard the old boys? They are still performing in their respective clubs.
Look at the Guineans, most of their players are JJ Okocha's set. And I can tell you that it was that guy Pascal Feindouno that single handedly wrecked our team though he didn't score but he was too experienced and supremely talented for our boys to match. He is in the same class with our JayJay.

The former gaffer who took over the Brazilians job tried what you’ve just done and he got no result, the new coach has safely settled for the established boys bringing back Ronaldinho and co to restore Brazil’s glory.

Now the damage has been done and no one should cry for you Sia Sia. You should be courageous and large-hearted enough to face the public purgatory. You are an independent thinker who wouldn’t want to listen to other people’s opinion and now "that journey through the desert.., you will take it alone!"
And as for this bunch that calls themselves “Super Eagles” thumb down to you folks.

If Siasia is still considered to stay, a known foreign tactician should be employed to work with him otherwise Keshi and Oliseh should be brought in to work with the foreign technical adviser.

Let’s use Ghana to console Nigerians – Osaze
On October 10, 2011 · In Sports

By Kate Obodo
Will the fumbling Eagles Nigerians saw on Sa****ay wake up against Ghana in an international friendly in London today?

Osaze Odewengie, the leader in the sloppy game on Sa****ay says that they have no option than to up their game to console Nigerians on their failure to qualify for the Nations Cup on Sa****ay.

”We just have to lift our game and see what we can do to make Nigerians a little bit happy,” Osaze said about the match today in Watford.

A 2-2 draw on Sa****ay saw the Eagles out of the Nations Cup race from a group that had Madagascar, Ethiopia and Guinea.

”We played badly. I played very badly myself. It is disappointing. It has already happened so let’s move on from here and see what we can do to do better next time. It starts with Ghana on Tuesday. Let’s give it our good shot and see if Nigerians can forgive us,” Osaze said.
................................................................
................................................................

Imagine what this comedian called Osaze is saying after messing Nigeria up ?. To Me, only few players still merit to be in the Eagles.
I'm not a myopic supporter of Mikel but I think he did well in that match, created so many scoring chances which Osa(squirrel)-ze squandered .
Yobo and Osaze should retire from National team, they are and will never be Super Eagles material. Yobo has never been a good defender from inception and Osaze is a flash in the pan, he'll do better as an MC than a footballer.
This is the right time to try Ugo Ukah and maybe , if Apam Onyekachi fully recovers, both of them can pair. We can also look into the local local league for your and ruthless....look at what that young Jonathan Mensah is doing in Ghana defense, plays with so much composure and not afraid of big names.
2013 is just around the corner, if we don't start now to recruit rugged, clinical and swift center-backs , we might have another deja vu in 2013.

Meanwhile , did Osaze miss those goals deliberately to pay Siasia back or just an unfortunate incident ????????????

jeffy: 2011-10-10 15:51

@freedomxpress i surport you 120 percent,he is not a coach,no coach in his right mind will play a midfielder with 5 strickers....ghanian are winning games becouse they pack thier midfield whenever they are playing thereby covering the defence...there is nothing like bad defenders and there is nothing like a bad goalkeeper,if you expose your defenders, you will get the same problem the eagles got on sa****ay.....siasia should do the right thing and just resign..with the players we have now in the eagles,i see them beating the best team in the world but we need a sound manager...nff,if he refuses to resign, just sack him pls....

Mr. Siasia, you have comfirmed to Nigerians that there is nothing in your head. I am one of the many Nigerians who voiceferously clamoured for yo, but alal!, we were wrong. You made us loose the match due to your technical defficiency. Imagine removing Joel Obi for Ehiosun, while leaving an underwhelming Emmenike on the pitch for 90 minutes. You switched from a 4-2-4 formation to 4-1-5, when you could have reverted into a 4-3-3 formation by bringing in Kalu Uche for misfiring Emmanuel Emenike. Too bad, you have failed! I agree with those who call you arrogant because you never listen. Please resign now and lets try Oliseh. He is also claiming to have a cure, just like you did.

What a humbled man Siasia has become. I do feel for him and the players who must have missed a glorious opportunity to Win the nations cup considering the level of opposition that will be in EQ Guinea/ Gabon in 2012.

Siasia looked really humbled and I hope he has learnt a valuable lesson from this result. Experience is not what happens to you rather its how you use what happened to you to overcome next time.

On the basis of these, I still maintain that Siasia should be retained to continue with the hope that he would change his approach especially in the area of man Management. Also, I do hope he will never make public his prediction of a match before hand again.

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Amata Plus: 2011-10-10 16:35

This clamour for Siasia's sack will do us no good. The common denominator in the various posts by forumites is Siasia is unforgiving and arrogant. That means we all love the concept of forgiveness and humility. This being the case, I am calling on all genuinely hurt Niaja fans to PLEASE FORGIVE SIASIA! LETS TEACH HIM THE BEAUTY OF FORGIVENESS BY EXTENDING IT TO HIM WITH HUMILITY.
I wept on sa****ay in the presence of my wife and kids. I was devastated and humiliated. However, I can still see, through misty eyes, a bright future for SE. For this to happen WE MUST AND SHOULD FORGIVE SIASIA AND THE BOYS. WE SHOULDN'T THROW THE BABY AND THE WATER AWAY. NA BEG I DEY BEG. NO BI FORCE.

Dominion: 2011-10-10 16:40

Losing/failing isn't a palatable experience but it can be worse hen the person involved refuses to get up and move on!Granted that every Nigerian is HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED about this event, we should be talking about the way forward. personally I believe that there are lessons to be learnt.
1. We are NOT the giant of Africa when it comes to football
2. We must humble ourselves and get back to the learning process.
3. We must not be in a hurry.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Siasia stays to continue the rebuilding process
2. NFF must hands off everything that concerns coaching and allow Siasia to do his job.
3. Siasia MUST be made to undergo refresher courses. In the world today what distinguishes one fellow from the other is the level of knowledge. In Nigeria for instance, apart from experience, someone with MSC is more employabe than someone with a BSc.
4. Eagles' job should be made as competitive as possible.
Finally, I'm happy and sad that this happened because the worst may have happened if we had quqlified for AFCON. We may be at an advantage over those that qualified because we can use this time to plan and build. Hopefully in 2013 and 2014 we will be the best in Africa and one of the best in the world.
PEACE!

AVRAM GRANT TOOK CHELSEA TO THEIR FIRST EVER UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL (WHERE THEY LOST TO MAN U ONLY ON PENALTIES), YET HE WAS SACKED AFTERWARDS. KESHI QUALIFIED TOGO FOR THE W/C IN 2006 YET DIDN'T TAKE THEM THERE. THE HEAVENS DIDN'T FALL.
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD COACHES ARE HIRED AND FIRED AT ANY TIME SO I DON'T SEE THE REASON FOR APOLOGISING(OR WHAT EVER) TO AMODU. HE'S COME AND GONE!

To Billion....Your statement "As a 'seasoned' coach you can't attack all the time, pushing all your men upfront without taking note of your opponent's counter attack"

O boy, it is always helpful to have your facts and stats straight before you try to make your case. As any reasonable coach and organization, coming into your final match there should be no confusion as to what is required. A 2-1 victory will not have guaranteed SE anything but second place in the group. Why? Because Guinea beat SE 1-0 and scored a goal in Abuja hence like in a two leg match, they beat you on the away goal rules. That being the case, what do you do as a manager. Do you hold for 2-1 or go for another goal?
Siasia made a few errors but in the final ****ysis, the Ozazes were the ones missing the open nets.
2013 playoffs will soon begin and to start looking for a new coach is simply unwise. Siasia needs some serious talking to and he also needs to reflect on his overall handling of the team. He has unearth a lot of new players that still need gelling. What the NFF needs to do is make sure that every international date is jammed packed with matches. SE must be in South Africa 2013 and Brazil 2014.
2012 is done and dusted. It was lost when SE drew in Ethiopia not Abuja.

Soccerwisdom: 2011-10-10 16:49

NFF Please do not listen to those calling for the sack or resignation of Siasia. Even if he loses against Ghana, bc now the team is in a bad Psychological state.
There is no messiah in football just go and look around the world. You need time to build a team. Look at Man U, ****nal they have built their team, Look at Mancini it is taking him about three years to get started in Man City upon all his stars, yet he won 4 league titles out of 4 in italy.
There are few special coaches like Mouringno, look at Ancelloti after all he did at Milan , he came and won at Chelsea, what happened in the second season he could not keep up.
Look at Keshi, he qualified Togo for the world cup, at the Nations cup he could not meet up bc of one players indiscipline and the coach trying to instill discipline.
Togo has not been the same ever, and even in Mali he couldn't quite do it at first try with all the stars there at the time.
this coaching thing takes time, even westerhoff those 5 years were not Rosy, every month people were calling for him to be sacked, but he grinded out a result gradually.
Beyond this one match ( it is unfortunate it is a match that the result has so much significance) the team has been taking shape and growing in confidence and exciting to watch, these are precious.
Nigeria's popularity in football today is not because of the trophies we have won , but for our exciting style of play as a team, and that has given us so much support and goodwill.
Nigeria has never defeated a super power like we did Argentina, Brazil beat us 3-0 in Abuja not with the proper A team, England just after USA 94 beat us 1-0, with our Super team, though we enjoyed and entertained during the game.
The solution is to continue and properly shape the team Naija style. We need hard defenders Okey Uche, Taribo West, EGuavoen not softies, Our defenders are normally Big, Strong And reliable in the ,mould of ****tu those are the ones westerhoff went for especially as centre back and skillful fullbacks

@Daddy Pato, You be idiot. why you no talk of begging Amodu before the last sa****ay match? why is it now that you are talking about begging Amodu? I am sure of Nigeria happens to qualify that sa****ay, you will never say anything like that in this forum.. Naija people with their blackman mentality shaa..

ken gadaffi: 2011-10-10 17:02

@Morvin, as far as i know, all the team for AFCON 2012 automatically qualifies for the second round of the 2013 Qualifiers.
The other teams will play a one off preliminaries to qualify for the second round. The implication of our elimination is that we could be drawn against any of the top teams that failed to make it to the EQG/GAB 2012 and if we dont start preparing now, we may just miss out again and have to wait till 2015.

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Since 1980 when Nigeria won the African cup of nation we have being a force in the African continent. I think the problem which this boys is lack of commitment this is the worst team when ever had I do think Siasia is the problem those boys are just useless and self centered they don’t care about the country’s reputation by now we are suppose to be the best in the continent. when they come home they play selfish games and play with peoples emotion I think the best thing to do is to use the home base and secondly we should understand that it took Clemens Westerhof time to build one of the best team in Africa (1994 team).so please I don’t know why we are crying we are still building this team let us go back and think of what to do. in 1990 Westerhof used local boys and they get to the final so let so stop all this crying and move on this selfish boys should just forget about Niger and go play in their Europe .

In late 1989, Westerhof was signed by the Nigerian Football Association to coach the national team. After the team failed to qualify for the 1990 FIFA World Cup by failing to get at least a draw away to Cameroon on the last day of qualifying, Westerhof set about rebuilding the team. His effect was immediate, as Nigeria reached the final of the 1990 African Cup of Nations where they lost 1-0 to the host nation Algeria with home base players. In the lead-up to the 1992 African Cup of Nations, Westerhof is credited with turning Nigeria into a perennial powerhouse in African football and showing that they, and other African nations, can compete on the world stage. He is responsible for what could be described as a "golden" period in Nigerian football. Players such as Jay-Jay Okocha, Sunday Oliseh, N****wo Kanu, Rashidi Yekini, Daniel Amokachi and others, who all went on to successful careers with various high-profile European clubs, entered the world spotlight while playing under Westerhof. All this players are committed and they played for the pride of the nation please let us give Siasia time I believe in him so much, those boys are just stupid and foolish self-centered! Siasia should start thinking of using home base and take advice from Westerhof. The Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation should allow the Head Coach do his job I know what they are trying to do, use a white Coach just to cause more problems! To satisfy them self at the expense of Nigerians they will now use millions of dollars to get a new Coach what a disgrace.
Thank you Angry Nigerian

Please let's leave P. TBJ out of this. The man only said what he saw! Most Prophets are not popular with the people cause they say what God showed them and not what people want to hear. Now, the issue is if God has revealed it, then it is subject to change (a la Isaiah telling Hezekiah God has said he will die but Hezekiah prayed and changed the prophesy)

The issue here is not about the man of God but about the actors involved, did they pray? Were they sincere? Did they want to give it their all? Events after the game shows that Siasia (and Nigerians at large) may have been sabotaged by key players! Yes, its that serious!
Although, Siasia also played into their hands but nobody can convince me that these players gave it there all.

I read Osaze on twitter hwere he called fans naive & journalists corrupt also listened to him on Brila where he tactless said NFF should decide whether to sack coach or not? Pray tell, how can you talk like this after you missed 2 glaring chances that could have won the game? Also, Mikel was sad to have gone to help his brother renew his passport and that was why he came late to camp??? I really don't understand this kind of behavior?

Personally, I will say away with Osaze, Mikel and the likes! Lets blood new younger, hungrier players. Players who will wear the Green jersey and defend it with all they got.
What is wrong with introducing, Udoh, Edek (from U-23) Omeruo, Ogungbe, Arokoyo, (from U-20) into the SE rightaway.
We have other exciting talents like Nosa Igiebor, Michael Babatunde, Rabiu Ibrahim, Oduamadi, Terna Suswan, Anthony Ujah, Michael Uchebo, Sani Emmanuel, etc waiting for a chance.
Yes, many of them might not be regular for clubs, but I guarantee they will "die" on the field for Nigeria "DIE"!

Lastly, I want folks to realize that over the ages God has always used the most unlikely people to speak His words (even Jesus was viewed as inappropriate to be messiah by the Jews), so it's not about who prophesied what but about the actors involved.

Yes I'm a xtian but No, I'm not a member of P. TBJ's church!

Siasia staying as the head coach should depends on what he does with his bunch of players with the Ghana Friendly. If he loses again, then this talk of long term building should be swept aside.
Football is about results and the Federation needs to invest by employing a foreign Technical hand and a local coach as the assistance. Our local coaches for now do not have what it takes to build a formidable SE, which we can rely on and watch without having HBP

Nigerians Should Apologises To Amodu - SSA

A Senior Special Assistant, SSA, (Media), Governor’s Office, Edo State Mr. Austin Braimoh has called on Nigerian football followers to tender an unreserved apology to former Super Eagles Coach Shaibu Amodu for not appreciating his worth for the national team while his tenure lasted.

The SSA made this call over the weekend from his Auchi base after Nigeria’s dismal performance against Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations final group match in Abuja.

According to Braimoh, “Amodu at different times effortlessly qualified Nigeria twice for the Africa Nations Cup against all odds and won bronze medals twice” he started.

“Amodu also qualified Nigeria twice for the FIFA World Cup also against all odds, a feat which no local coach has been able to match.

“In all of that, the “thank you” Nigeria gave Amodu was sack, sack, sack and even refusing to pay him his entitlements, just as Nigeria football fans were behind drumming for his head, instead of a pat on the back”, he narrated with emotions.

Commenting further with all vehemence, Braimoh, a veteran journalist recounted that for the twice Amodu qualified Nigeria for the World Cup, he was also twice refused to witness the finals in the respective host countries as he was sacked for “incompetence”.

However, Braimoh wondered what could be more disgraceful to Nigeria at the moment in the soccer world when the National Flag (green, white, green) would not be hoisted in the next edition of the Nations Cup billed for Equatorial Guinea / Gabon.

To this end, the SSA cum media consultant averred that, “Nigerians, football followers in particular, should apologize to Shaibu Amodu for all the embarrassment and inconveniences they have caused him over time, even in the face of success for the nations football”.

It would be recalled Amodu qualified Nigeria for the 2002 and 2010 ANC in Mali and Angola and 2002 and 2010 FIFA Word Cup in Korea/Japan and South Africa.

didn't let issues with Vincent Enyeama behind him so we could win this
most important game of our lives, but his ego override his sense of duty and patriotic call at the most critical time in our soccer history, now he wants to move on, but with whom. Please Siasia resign if you are honorable, firing you may ruin your chance of seeking a coaching job in Mauritania, becuase no club in Nigeria will want your service again, a man that put his ego above everything else.

Believe it or not, predestination played a major role in the qualification of teams for 2012 AFCON.
How else can one explain the incredulous missed scoring chances of the SE, unthinkable school boy errors of Ayenugba, and the ease with which the Guineans scored? And Siasia adopting 4-1-5 in the search for an imaginary third goal? I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E!!
Apart from Nigeria's scenerios, how about the mathematical blunder that cost SA? They deliberately played for a draw! Egypt simply went to sleep. Cameroun? In fightings galore cost them!
Are all these coincidences?

Our Managers Didn’t Know The Rules – Yobo

By Pius Ayinor, who was in Abuja
Monday, 10 Oct 2011

Earth shaking discoveries have continued to trail the exit of Nigeria from the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations following the 2-2 draw Nigeria played against Guinea on Sa****ay in Abuja.

The Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo told THE PUNCH at their Transcorp Hilton Hotel lodge that the confusion over the rules of the qualification contributed to the result they got from the match.

The defender said that the players had settled to defend their slim 2-1 lead with a few minutes left in the match than take the risk of seeking the third goal and leaving their defence open but contrary signals from the sidelines created the mess.

He said, “By our initial understanding a 1-0 win would see us through as the top team from the group but any other form of win was also enough for us to qualify as one of the best runners-up teams.

“So when we secured the lead the plan was to adjust our plan. And that meant defending the lead and taking on counter attack when the opportunity arose. That way we could still have scored the third goal without much risk. But we were asked to press for the third goal and we changed our plans again and pressed. And it became calamitous as it left our defences open because we all joined the attack and the Guineans capitalised on that.

We learnt that the Eagles and their managers realised their folly after the final whistle when everyone blamed them for not holding on to their slim lead and qualify as one of the second best teams. Nigeria and Guinea would have qualified from the group even if Nigeria had beaten them by 1-0 by any other form.

South Africans who played goalless draw with Sierra Leone on Sa****ay had finished their celebration with a lap of honour before they realised they did not qualify.

Siasia is overated. He lacks maturity and competence to handle the SE.No responsible coach will place his personal interest above national interest by suspending thw best goalie for a crucial match.
For one year he was unable to fix the SE Defence which was suspect. He kept on featuring weak defenders who are bench warmers in europe and who play for very low league like the Israeli league.Presently, we do not have defenders playing in europe. The best option was for him to look inwards to our local league for defenders but he shut the doors to players in our local league.

BBC SPORTS HEADLINE NOW, ZAMBIA SACKED COACH AFTER QUALIFYING THEM

Less than 48 hours after qualifying for the Nations Cup, Italian Dario Bonetti has learnt that he will not now lead the team to Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.Zambia have sacked coach Dario Bonetti, despite the team qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Bonetti's departure comes as a shock after he secured the Chipolopolo's place at January's finals, with a 0-0 draw against Libya on Sa****ay.
Football Association of Zambia president Kalusha Bwalya said the move was taken to shake up the squad.
"Dario has done a good job but we don't think he can take this team any further," Bwalya told BBC Sport.
"With the players we have, we believe Zambia should be playing a lot better because our people have high expectations," he added.
"We need someone to come in and shake up the squad because we have ambitions of playing at the next World Cup."
The Zambian legend admits that the local FA have no replacement currently lined up.
"We know a lot more about this team than the outside world, and we need a team that can challenge the big boys in Africa." REPORT ENDS HERE, AND MINE BEGIN BELOW

THAT IS THE STORY IN ZAMBIA WHO QUALIFIED, WHAT IS NIGERIA WAITING TO SACK SIASIA WHO FAILED US RIGHT IN OUR HOUSE BECAUSE HE CHOSE EGO OVER NATIONAL INTEREST FOR NOT FIELDING VINCENT ENYEAMA SACK SIASIA. The problem is most of us have the culture of thinking in the short term. and that has been our problem.. Just because Siasia gives a player 1, 2, 3, 4 match suspension does not mean he has not forgiven him.. he forgives when he calls back the player.. he can so do that at any time.. the discipline Siasia was trying to instill will have short-term consequences but will reap more long-term rewards.. now this is the problem with our short sigthted mentality.. let Siasia stay.. and he will learn in whatever mistakes he made tactically.. but as regards disciplining his players he did right.. and it is his right to determine the term of discipline... its understandable that we are mad that we didnt qualify.. but the rebuilding process should continue.. remember the problem we have had for decades is mainly due to no continuity.. Nigeria lacks the structure were a coach can come in and do wonders in a short time.. we lack the administrative, grass-root development program.. we don't have a good league. these thigns are very important.. guys don't be too emotional.. stuffs happen

Now that all the worms are out of the wood work, it’s great.

I am a Siasia fan and am so happy I am. First of all, I love the way he has brought in guys that will be in the eagle for the next 10 years. The team is younger now and will even get younger if he’s allowed to continue his work of re-building the eagle.

I love his philosophy of attacking foot ball, this team just needs a couple of players at the back and in the midfield to speed up our play and we will be fine.

Mind you, that game should have been done and dusted in the first half. Obinna 3 chances, Emenike 2 great chances, Osaze 1 cast iron chance, Mikel 2 chances, just in the first half alone. So I don’t think we should throw the baby out with the bath water just yet. But if we want to, fine. It’s not the end of the world, it will not be the end of Siasia he will come back again and again. If Amodu can coach eagle 3 times, Siasia will definitely do it 4 times.

And don’t forget the referee, adding just 6min after all the horror show from that goalkeeper.

I don’t understand how pple will come now and talk about Amodu, I mine the only person to remember that apart from the boring football, in 90min we hardly create 2 and I mean 2 chances in 90min of Amodu’s version of football. My God, some pple don’t deserve to be even the frying pan, they should be in the fire.

Great champion like Egypt and Cameroon did not make it, every day I try to watch the news channel to see when those great footballing nations will catch fire, as on now it hasn’t happen.

Siasia should stay, this experience will humble him and am sure he will work extra hard but pls and pls we don’t want any Oyinbo coach. I hear someone saying Keshi should have got the job. I thought he was the coach of Togo, so they qualify? Good luck.

Oyinbo man will come here am recycle old players in the name of experience and we all know that these so called experience players are really old. We should continue to fool ourselves.

Agbe: 2011-10-11 13:22

To all the Amodu fans, Siasia did not take his job. It was the NFF who took away his job and gave it to Lager back, did I need to say it again, Lager back.

Everyone wanted Oyinbo coach and the NFF gave them Oyinbo coach, how could we have forgotten how his hand were raised aloft like a champion by that man(Ekeji) ha ha ha, now my pple want another Oyinbo like berti volts, I beg make we hear word.

To all those who have low self esteem or complex or worst still, who are coconut and think everything is Oyinbo Oyinbo. Why don’t you invite the British back, like Amokachie suggested last year that the British FA should be contracted to run our NFF.

1st the Super Eagles is not the team of Old. We parade average players. The only player who play regularly now in top league is Joel Obi of Inter Millan. Taiye Taiwo is a flop in AC Millan while Mikel Obi sit at the Bench occasionally.
The implication of this statement is that we dont have quality players again.
2. SIASIA has not even spend a year in the saddle. Our non qualification also start with Eguavon. If we have won or draw that match. A draw will give us 12POINTS. Libya qualify with 12points as a runner up. So Siasia is not entirely to be blame. You dont change coach intermittently and expect result. A mistake we are about to make now once siasia is sack. Another qualifier starts next 2013.
3. Osaze is a saboteaur. My only regret is that why did SIASIA use Mikel and Osaze. This guys are not suppose to be in that team. They are not committed and passionate. But the fans will not allow the coach to be if he doesnt use them. The beginning of Siasia problem was the recalling back osaze back to the team. Thats the only issue that pains me with Siasia.
4. Iff NFF want to sack him, let them go ahead to appoint one of the ani siasia forumites to handle the team or bring in Mourinho and let see the result.
5.@ Ken Gadafi, Nigeria doesnt have a team when Siasia take over.If not for Siasia, players like Joel Obi, IK Uche, Fengor Ogude, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Emmanuel Ekpo, Emenike will never have chance to play for Super Eagles.
6. A lot of positives since this guy takes over. Atleast we now play attacking foot*****. Since have been watching SIASIA teams. the least clear cut chances the team has created is 8. Lets give him a chance.
What a country. We are not patient. Just 5month in the Saddle, and after loosing a match, the new song is SACK. Na waoooooo.

Am ready to take on all Siasia critics on this forum one by one. I remain commited to this course and is very simple:
1. Siasia should be allowed atleast 4 years to build a team we can be proud off.
2. Players Like Osaze, Mikel, Ambrose should be excluded from the team.
3. Siasia should scout Local Leagues for Good defenders.
4. Some U23 team players should be drafted into the team.
5. This is the time the NFF need to start organising friendlies for super eagles to discover new players.

I will be back.
