Pitso Mosimane says Bafana can still improve

Mosimane rues missed opportunities

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane admits the team could have done better than the two goals scored against Niger on Saturday.

Bafana won 2-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga in South Africa’s opening match of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, but ‘Jingles’ admits he was frustrated on the sidelines watching the boys miss chance after chance.

“I’m happy that we created the chances, but obviously frustrated that we didn’t take those chances,” Mosimane says. “I think the result was not the true reflection of the game because we had so many opportunities.

“It is so funny … sometimes we score the difficult goals if you look at the good execution by Bernard Parker, but we can’t finish the easy ones. We need to work on it at training. We need some maturity upfront.

“I think my body language showed that I was frustrated. We can be better in front of goal. The worry I have is the goal-difference by the time we play the last match. Remember, during the World Cup we had enough points but not enough goals; that’s what I was thinking about when we were missing the chances,” he reveals.

However, all is well that ends well and Mosimane had some encouraging words for the boys.

“We played good football and it was a lot of entertainment for the people. We were dominant in terms of tactics, the passing and I’m happy that our players could express themselves so well, played football to their strengths and showed talent.

“In all, we had a good plan and most of the things we spoke about that we must be careful of like counter attacks and fortunately the boys did good on that. We are top of the group as we speak and I hope we stay there,” Mosimane concludes.

Some of Pitso decisions could have been better, his first substitution, bringing Yeye was very much unnecessary.Yeye is a good player, bt if Pitso wanted to field him at all costs, he shud have just started with him. We needed an outright offensive player, Klate,Erasmus, Teko or even Ngcobo would have been a better option at that stage of the game. Niger were never a threat, infact the only time they threatened was when Yeye made that back pass. We never had to bring in more stil in a form of Yeye when we were cruising, only when there's a threat should we reinforce. Hope they ****yze properly and improve next time. Bafana Kaofela!

It's a very simple but sad fact: we lack the killer instinct. That said, we do not need the pretty boys in Cairo. We will need the players who will get stuck in tackles and leave the field bruised and battered. It's a pity that Mhlongo is not available because the spine is complete in terms of players with nerves of steel. I m talking about Khune, Mbazo, Maestro and Killer. I just feel that the midfield needs another strong character like Mayanga. These other players may get intimidated out there...

never mind about those lost opportunities as long as you collect the three points.
what is bad is missing chances and end up losing or drawing.
well done coach and the boys!!!!!!!!

1. Steven Peinaar was just classy.

2. Mphela is dead. I'm a Sundowns fan and I was glad to see Nyasha scoring against Swallow because that means Mphela will have to sit out. He's dead, Sundowns should have sold him while they could. If anyone one offers me money for my skorokoro, I take it in a heart beat, I wouldn't even tell you that the gearbox is f*cked up, I would make them sign a no return contract.

Mphela son, that Zim boy is gonna take you out of fashion, ufile son, uyisidumbu, this is no dead threat, don't sh*t twisted, ufile.

One player (Tshabalala) tried to pass the ball across the face of goals(or was he trying to score..??!!) but it ended up being a throw-in at the other side of the field. What a poor technique from a supposedly professional player..!!
