Gordon Igesund up against Ljupko Petrovic for Cameroon job

Gordon Igesund is facing a frustrating wait to find out whether he will be the Cameroon national team’s new coach.

The four-time League-winning coach had been earmarked as one of the two favourites for the job alongside former Bayern Leverkusen mentor Klaus Toppmoller, and has been waiting on the Cameroon Football Federation to make contact regarding a formal interview following initial discussions with an official from organization.

However, another candidate entered the race for the Indomitable Lions job on Wednesday, with Serbian Ljupko Petrovic now thought to be the front-runner.

Petrovic is a 63-year-old Bosnian Serb with vast coaching experience, having led Red Star Belgrade to the European Cup in 1991. He has also coached in Spain, Austria and Uruguay, but has no senior national team experience.

Igesund admits he has not yet heard anything regarding an official interview, telling KickOff.com: “I’m a little bit disappointed as it looks as though it won’t happen now.

“They were supposed to have got back to me already, but now it seems as if they have identified someone else for the job.”

The Indomitable Lions are looking for a replacement for Paul le Guen, who quit following the team’s dismal showing at the World Cup.

Shame coach, throwing the towel already???? But then again those countries up there Gordon have an ego that is useless. Im sure a good local team will still need your service

Gordon, dont u know on average job seekers go through atleast 22 interviews and propects before actually being hired y someone. Sorry baba, your time will come. Its about time we start exporting coaching to competitive footballing countries.

start working yourself up take a post of say Swaziland or Lesotho,then a Mozambique or Malawi before getting 2 a Cameroon.
