Possibly Uruguay's best-known player, Forlan played for English giants Manchester United for two years and Villareal before ending up at Atletico Madrid.
He has become an integral part of Atletico's team since his arrival in 2007, playing a key role in their 2010 Europa League success.
Forlan earned his call-up to the national team in 2002 and scored in the 2002 FIFA World Cup against Senegal.
