The Swiss completed back-to-back World Cup qualifications in fine style under the expert leadership of German coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.

They were always comfortable in their group and in the end qualified with a game to spare to reach a ninth finals tournament.

Following the World Cup success of their Under-17 side in Nigeria recently, they will be hoping this tournament also heralds a bright new dawn in Swiss football.
