10 Cesc Fábregas
Cesc Fabregas started his career as a central midfielder for Barcelona, but was snatched up by Arsenal in 2003. He did not feature much in his first season for the Gunners, but following injuries to key midfielders in the 2004/05 season, he was given the opportunity to establish himself.
Now a regular fixture in the Spanish national team, Fabregas’ international career begun at the 2003 Fifa Under-17 Championships in Finland.
He finished as top scorer, despite playing in midfield, and was voted Player of the Tournament. In March 2006 he was called up to the senior national squad and became the youngest debutant for 70 years.
He went on to play in the 2006 World Cup and became the youngest Spanish player to do so, aged 19 years and 41 days.
In 2008 Fabregas was part of Spain's triumphant Euro 2008 team and has since been handed the captain's armband at the Emirates Stadium.
