7 David Villa
David Villa took over the number 7 jersey for Spain from former captain Raul and immediately impressed. He was the top scorer at Euro 2008, which Spain won, and was the second-highest goalscorer in La Liga in the 2005/06 season.
He has been at Valencia since 2005, arriving there from Real Zaragoza and, despite interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona, he has so far resisted the temptation to leave the Mestalla.
Villa is Spain's second-highest goalscorer of all time behind Raul, having made his debut in 2005 against San Marino. He took part in the 2006 World Cup, where he scored three goals. In early 2009 he scored a goal against England and became the fist Spain player to score a goal in six consecutive internationals.
