One of three players with previous World Cup experience, Kanu is more of an influence off the pitch and to provide a creative spark late in the game.
He narrowly missed being selected for the 1994 World Cup, but is a veteran of the 1998 and 2002 editions.
Slow but clever, he is one of few African players to have won the UEFA Champions League.
Second only to Samuel Eto'o, as the most decorated African player.
