9 Robin van Persie
Robin van Persie began his career as a youth player for Dutch side Excelsior before joining Feyenoord, in the process earning caps for the Netherlands Under-19 and Under-21 sides.
At the end of the 2003/04 season Arsenal made a move for the striker and he made his debut for the Gunners in their 3-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Community Shield in August 2004.
Although Van Persie used to play as a left-winger, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger predominantly plays him as a striker.
Van Persie received his first full Dutch cap against Romania in June 2005 in a World Cup qualifier and in his second appearance he netted his first international goal.
He was selected for the 2006 World Cup by national coach Marco van Basten and his first World Cup goal came in the group match against the Ivory Coast in the form of a blistering free-kick.
In Euro 2008 he was his team's top scorer with four goals, but couldn't help his side past the first knock-out round.
However, his progressed has been curtailed by injury in the last few years and it remains to be seen how his fitness holds up in South Africa.
