Kisho Yano started playing football at youth level with Jubilo Iwata and then Hamana High School, but he made the move to professional in 2003, signing with Kashiwa Reysol. After 39 games he was quickly snapped up by Albirex Nigata, and he has since made over 100 appearances, scoring 27 goals.

Yano first played international football at the 2001 Under-17 World Championship. In 2002 he was called up to the Under-20 team, but he would have to wait five more years before making his senior debut, coming on in the friendly against Peru in Match 2007.

The striker scored his first international goal against Switzerland in September 2007, netting the winner in the friendly in Klagenfurt.
