Daiki Iwamasa first played football from 1997 to 2003 with Iwakuni High School and then Tokyo Gakugei University, but he went professional with Kashima Antlers, where he has since played in over 180 matches and scored 23 goals, as well as lifting the J-League title in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

In 2008 newly-appointed Japan coach Takeshi Okada handed the player a call-up to the national squad, and in October he made his international debut in the friendly against Scotland. He was also part of the 2009 Japanese Super Cup-winning team.
