De Leon made a name for himself playing for Platense in Honduras. He scored 18 goals in 74 matches for the club. In 2001 he made the move to Reggina in the Italian Serie A. He stayed at Reggina for six years, despite frequent loan spells which saw him move all over Italy. The attacking midfielder now plays for Parma. The free-kick specialist earned his call up to the Honduras national team in 1999. De Leon has gone on to make 73 appearances for Honduras, scoring 14 goals.
