20 Ledley King
Ledley King is a product of the Tottenham youth academy, joining as a teenager in 1997 before breaking into the first-team in 1999. He instantly became a hit a White Hart Lane, filling in the void left by Sol Campbell’s departure to London rivals Arsenal. In 2006, though, King’s season suffered a huge set-back after injuring his knee in training at the beginning of the campaign. At the beginning of the 2007/08 campaign King underwent surgery on the problem, ruling him out of action until Boxing Day 2007. However, he has since struggled with the injury, which has restricted him to playing just once a week, although he still captains the club.
King played his first international debut match for England’s Under-21 team in 2000, and in 2002 he made his full international debut in the 2-1 loss to Italy.
King looked set to play at the 2006 World Cup, but a foot injury ruled him out of the tournament.
King's injury problems saw him last play for England in June 2007, but in 2009 he was handed a re-call to the first-team under Fabio Capello, and in 2010 was named in the provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
