Joe Hart began playing football at the professional level with Shrewsbury Town in 2003, and after three seasons he signed with Premier League outfit Manchester City.

He soon found himself on-loan at Tranmere Rovers and then Blackpool though, but returned to City in 2008.

He finished the 2009/10 Premier League season on loan at Birmingham City following Shay Given’s arrival at Eastlands, but his displays at St Andrews saw him nominated for the 2010 PFA Young Player of the Year award, and was also awarded with a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

Hart was part of the preliminary squad for England’s Under-21 team at Euro 2007, playing his first match in the final friendly.

Hart was again called up to the Under-21 squad for Euro 2009, and although he helped lead the team to the final he was unable to play through suspension.

He made his first full international debut in 2008 for the friendly against Trinidad and Tobago, coming on as a second-half substitute for David James.

He received his second cap in August of that year, although he was an unused sub and had to wait until November 2009 for his next chance, being named in the squad for the friendly against Brazil.
