Son of West Ham legend Frank Lampard senior, young Frank followed in the footsteps of his father and began his career as an apprentice with West Ham.

However, the sacking of his uncle Harry Redknapp as manager persuaded Lampard to make the move across London to archrivals Chelsea.

After a quiet start he soon became an integral part of the engine-room at Chelsea, marshalling the midfield and scoring plenty of goals. He has won the Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup whilst at Stamford Bridge, and just needs a Champions League medal to complete the full set.

He earned his first senior England cap in October 1999 in a 2-1 friendly win over Belgium, with his first goal coming four years later, against Croatia in 2003. His first tournament was Euro 2004, where he netted three goals in four games and was named in the UEFA Team of the Tournament. He has also featured at the 2006 World Cup finals.
