7 Elano
Elano Ralph Blumer,to give him his full name, is somewhat an enigma.
Having progressed through the youth team at Santos, Elano took a route many Brazilians did, by moving to Eastern Europe, joining Ukrainian financial heavyweights Shakhtar Donetsk in 2004.
After becoming the first Ukrainian-based player to be capped by Brazil, Elano moved to Manchester City in 2007, where after an impressive first season that him net ten goals and many more assists in the English Premier League, he fell out of favor under the regime of newly appointed manager Mark Hughes.
Following the arrival of fellow Brazilian Robinho, Elano's chances were limited in England and he chose to move away, this time to Turkey, with Galatasaray.
Having gained his first international cap during his time in Ukraine, his first goal for Seleção came in 2006 in a friendly match against Argentina where he found the net twice.
Elano could well play a key role in South Africa, forming part of a three-man advanced midfield with Kaka and Robinho.
