After beginning his career with Sydney FC in his native Australia, Tim Cahill was signed by Millwall on a free transfer in 1997. The midfielder went on to make 217 league appearances with the Lions and helped them reach the final of the FA Cup for the first time in their history. The FA Cup final was to be Cahill's last appearance for the club as he joined Everton the following season in 2004.

In his first season in the Premier League the Australian finished as the Toffees' top goal scorer and second-highest assist creator. Since then he has gone from strength to strength with the Blues, and consolidated his position in the starting lineup and at the beginning of the 2008/09 season proved his versatility by playing as a striker during an injury crisis at Goodison Park. Cahill is also a regular feature in the Australian national side.
