Gaxa made a bright start for South Africa as he was chosen as joint Man of the Match with fellow debutant and club colleague Ricardo Katza after a 2-1 qualifier win in the World Cup in the Cape Verde Islands in 2005.
He helped SuperSport United win the 2008 Premier Soccer League title and also got an award for the Best Goal of the Season, before moving to Sundowns in a R4.5-million deal in July 2008.
He was a member of the 2006 African Nations Cup finals squad and played for the Under-20 team at the 2003 African Youth Championships in Burkina Faso. He also won one cap at Under-17 level.
The right-back was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
