Kermit Erasmus is happy to be back at SuperSport United and reunited with his old coach Pitso Mosimane in the Bafana Bafana fold after missing out on the 2010 World Cup.
Erasmus, who is part of the Bafana squad preparing for Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger, tells East London's Daily Dispatch, that he hopes to play an important role in the national team's quest for a place at the Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in 2012.
The former national Under-20 striker was part of the Bafana squad which travelled to Brazil to prepare for the World Cup tournament. But Erasmus lost out on a place when the final squad was announced by former coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira.
Erasmus has just returned to the PSL after spending a few years in the Netherlands where he was on the books of Feyenoord Rotterdam, whom at one stage loaned him out to Excelsior Rotterdam.
"I will make the most of it should I get a chance to play on Saturday. I will have to give my best to ensure that we win the match against Niger.
"We are positive about winning the match and we will have to use our opportunities and score goals. It was great being part of the squad which trained in Brazil before the World Cup. And it has always been an honour to me to be part of the national team," the Port Elizabeth-born striker said .
The 20-year-old Erasmus, who played 30 matches and netted 11 times for Excelsior, does not regret returning to the PSL.
"It's good to be back at SuperSport and I believe that this is good move for me. This is going to enhance my chances of remaining in the national team," said Erasmus.
Erasmus is also pleased he is back working with Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane who introduced him to professional soccer.
"I'm happy to work with the man who introduced me to the first team at SuperSport. I'm talking about the man who opened the doors for me," he said.
Meanwhile, Racing Genk defender Anele Ngcongca hopes to cement his place as a Bafana right-back and has revealed that he is not afraid of competition.
"This is the moment I had been waiting for and I want to continue playing in the national team. I grabbed the opportunity when I was selected into the starting line-up in our past two matches and I want to play well all the time," said Ngcongca.
Ngcongca competes for the right- back position with Siboniso Gaxa, who has just signed with Belgian side, Lierse, from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Bafana will train in Johannesburg this morning before leaving for Mbombela in the evening.
