Marawa – I have little respect for Pitso

Bafana Bafana assistant team manager Gugu Marawa has cited “little respect” for new head coach Pitso Mosimane as the main reason for quitting her job.
South African Football Association CEO Leslie Sedibe apparently received a hard hitting two-page letter from Marawa, who is on the verge of being named Golden Arrows’ general manager, explaining why she was quitting Safa.
The City Press reports that the sudden resignation will upset the national team’s preparations ahead of the international friendly against Ghana on August 11 at the Soccer City stadium.
Marawa was assistant to the suspended Sipho Nkumane, who could be fired pending a disciplinary hearing to face a litany of charges, including dereliction of duties. Safa first have to deal with Marawa’s decision to quit, alleging Mosimane and her have been on a collision course for three of Mosimane’s four years as the assistant coach.
Her letter to Sedibe reads: “In view of the recent appointment and announcement of the head coach for the men’s senior team, I had to consider my options given that I would have to work with him on a daily basis.
“I have never sought to hide the fact that I have very little respect for the way he has conducted himself over the past three years I have worked with him. That being the case and considering my position and the requirements of my job description demand that I worked closely with the technical team, especially the head coach, I have decided to review my situation,” she wrote.
Marawa added: “Not being able to work with (the) team does not leave me with any option but to request to be given an exit package and allowed to leave.”
Sedibe confirmed receipt of the letter. “I can confirm that Gugu wrote to me and I will attend to her request in the course of the week,” he said.
Mato Madlala, the Abafana Bes’thende boss, is quoted saying Marawa is joining her team. “I have been pursuing her for years and I am delighted that she will be joining us. I have been looking for somebody I can trust for years and now I can even take a long holiday knowing that my club is in good hands,” she said.
