Nasief Morris joins Cypriot side Apollon

No glamour move for Morris

Posted: 2010-07-23 13:59

Bafana Bafana defender Nasief Morris has signed for Cypriot side Apollon after being released by Greek club Panathinaikos last week.

The 29-year-old has been able to sign as a free agent with the Cypriots, though it is hardly the glamour move that had been touted for him after a successful season on loan at Recreativo Huelva in Spain in the 2008/09 campaign.

At that time there was talk of the likes of Sevilla and Villarreal being interested in his services, but after a succession of off-field problems, his star has diminished over the past 12 months.

Morris will be hoping to regain his place in the Bafana Bafana set-up under new coach Pitso Mosimane, having missed out on both the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup after not being selected.

Apollon have won the Cypriot championship on three occasions, the last in 2006, and are also the current Cypriot Cup holders, which has seen them enter into the UEFA Europa League.

From one bad story about Shabba to an even worse story about Nassief, why the hell would an established brand like you go to Cyprus?

Even Germany, Holland or even back home in Mzantsi @Real Sundowns would've been more ideal.....I'm dissapointed, it can only be the work or lack thereof of your agent.

Moers****! Another wasted talent. Phew!

Mahlatse: 2010-07-23 14:58

Kick off is known for promoting non blacks,I don't want to say they are racist but if you look at their reporting you'll realise that players such as Bryce Moon,Glen Salmon,Steven Pienaar,Delroy Buckley,Rowen Fernandez,Erio van Heerden,Nasief Morris,Lance Davids,Daine Klate are treated differently compared to Tshabalala,Modise,Mokwena,Khumalo,Khune, and many other black players in South Africa.

All I am saying to the editor is be careful,we do notice this type of biased reporting.
