Any doubts that the Belo Horizante giants Cruzeiro will field a second string side against Bafana Bafana today have been brushed aside by the Sao Paulo media.

The Portuguese-speaking reports that no less than four of the club's regulars have paid tribute to coach Carlos Alberto Parreira as having played a big role in their careers and say they want to be part of today's international friendly.

The four are Fabricio, Fabinho, Gilbert and Roger who trained under Parreira at various times.

The first two, who played under Parreira at Corinthians, were part of Luiz Felipe Scolari's 2002 World Cup winning squad in South Korea and Japan, while Roger was with him in 1999 at Fluminense.

Gilbert was a member of Parreira's squad that was knocked out in the Germany 2006 semifinals by France.

Fabinho and Roger are reported to be definite starters for today's match, while Fabrício is waiting on a late fitness test for a calf injury. Gilbert, who is suffering from a similar injury, is said to be a doubtful starter.

Fabinho, who describes Parreira as a ‘very professional and a super good person' says it has been eight years since he last worked with the coach, however he remembers clearly the coach's method of training and off-the-field advice.

"He did not only speak of soccer; Parreira was also always worrying about our careers. I remember getting an offer from Japan while I was at Corinthians.

"I clearly remember speaking to him about it and he said that while his own loyalties were with the club, my priorities were my family and my career. I had a good season in Japan that year," he adds.
