Bafana Bafana international Macbeth Sibaya was given the captain’s armband as he led his Rubin Kazan side to a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Russian Super Cup at the famous Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Sunday.

Russian international forward Alexander Bukharov scored the only goal of the game on 35 minutes, after which Kazan were forced to defend for almost the entire remainder of the game as CSKA applied enormous pressure on their goal.

The win was sweet revenge for Sibaya and his men after they lost to CSKA in the 2009 Super Cup, and they can now go into the Russian League season, which starts next weekend, with confidence of claiming a third successive championship title.

The victory was Kazan’s first in the Russian Super Cup, and follows their recent success in the Commonwealth of Independent States Cup, which features the champions from all the countries in the former Soviet Union, as well as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania.

Even though I do believe that "Khetho" has leadership attributes, and would love for him to lead Bafana, but I think this is a ploy by Kickoff to undermine Mbazo's role, and this is wrong!

Kick off, please stop pandering to Shaun Bartlett's whims; Pienaar might be on top of his game, but he is by no means suited to captaining Bafana in the upcoming World Cup. Don't compare that to the Mickeymouse games for which Teko is assigned the armband
