Bafana to play top Brazil clubs

Posted: 2010-03-04 21:30

Carlos Alberto Parreira has lined up five matches for Bafana Bafana during their trip to Brazil next month.

While at the high altitude training centre in Granja Comary, the South Africans will play Volta Redonda on March 13 and then Fluminese, the Brazilian club that Parreira has taken to two titles in his homeland, the following day.

Three days later the South Africans will visit Cruzeiro at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte and wind up their club match schedule against Botafogo on March 20.

They will then move base from Granja Comary to Traffic Training Centre where they will continue preparations until April 6.

During this time Bafana will play an international friendly against Paraguay on March 31.

"The Brazilian League is in full swing and it proved very difficult to put this whole exercise together. But the highlight of the camp should be a match against local first division club Cruzeiro," said Parreira.

The Brazilian added that he knows from experience that this trip will bring the best out of Bafana.

The standard of fitness in the League (PSL) is not at World Cup level, and this camp should help rectify that
- Carlos Alberto Parreira

"I have taken Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to Granja Comary in Brazil and on our return the results were magnificent. This exercise will be very good for our boys.

"The focus will be on playing simple, having shape and getting some identity. If you look at countries like England, Germany and Brazil, they play a certain style of football – they have identity and we don't. It's a huge challenge.

"Also, the standard of fitness in the League (PSL) is not at World Cup level, and this camp should help rectify that or we don't stand a chance in the World Cup tournament," added the coach.

Franco : 2010-03-05 00:21

I so wish I was Mdledle. I mean even at Sundowns he have been sidelined 4 Mayinga but guess what, he is good 4 BB.

Eishhh some ppl r lucky, how do u opt 4 Mbuyane ahead of Erwin Isaacs, Salmon, Kadi and Nomvete?

Surprise suprise!!! Moriri made it ahead of Haskins, Carelse, Maluleke, Dladla and Zothwane.
By the way, what is Gert's jersy no at Pirates?

Now back to the topic: What did Kuwait and Saudi Arabia do after their camps in Brazil? What is their FIFA ranking? Are they coming for the WC? plz help bloggers.

michael: 2010-03-05 01:32

You should then seek devine intervention ko Moria gongwe letlaa thusega e chaile!

Wonder : 2010-03-05 05:45

Guys, in defence of the coach in selecting "Mkhululi" Moriri, he considerd class over form, he does the same even with our players abroad. Most of our overseas based players, Benni included are not playing, yet he is expected to be called. Whoever supports the inclusion of the non regulars plying their in Europe should just stop being hypocrites.

Ernest : 2010-03-05 06:29

Wonder, which class r u talkin about? Moriri of all people?

Wonder : 2010-03-05 06:57

Enerst, check ur records and stop asking stupid question. Anyway, irrespective of who is the, i'm 120% behind this team. Continue with your whinning and lets wait and see if it changes anything. Shapa Bafanax2 Shapa!

Ole(The Guru): 2010-03-05 07:14

Stop being a hypcrite Franco why complain about Mdledle if 60% of the chosen dont even make the starting line up at their teams???? or is because you hate Sundowns???? The training squad is chosen and all we can do is to support them.

Ernest : 2010-03-05 07:35

I hop Nomvethe wil b included in de final setup. Gut luk BB.

Ernest : 2010-03-05 07:56

Wonder, if we select de squat based on history, Jabu pule also desefs cal.

Zulu: 2010-03-05 07:58

I think the coach choose these players for continuity. He has been in local camps with most of the selected. I am now starting to believe our team will suprise us all

Fanie: 2010-03-05 08:11

oebogeng :2010-03-05 07:14

You can call me names all I care, even Sundowns supporters will tell u that they prefer Mayinga ahead of Mdledle 4 their starting eleven. How do u even call me a Sundowns hater after I recommended Zothwane ahead of Moriri? Aren't they both Sundowns players?

S. Africans,as much as we love our country and wish 4 BB 2 do well during the WC, we'll always have questions were we are not satisfied bcos we want 2 see the best BB.
Let's not just protect the inclusion of certain players bcos they are 4rom our favourite teams.

I support the inclusion of Jali, Mokoena, Xulu, Serero, Segolela, Claasen, Erasmus and Khuboni but guess what, non of them is 4rom Chiefs. They are all 4rom different clubs but the bottom line is that they are good S.A players.

Ole(The Guru): 2010-03-05 08:37

there are many players who dont deserve to be there based on form the likes of Teko, Tshabalala, Gert, Mbuyane are not cracking it in their teams why only pick on Moriri and Mdledle??? If Benni, Mokoena and Teko can be picked based on history why not Moriri????

Jingotres: 2010-03-05 08:56

A guy like Brent C. from Supersport would have been a Nxa selection ahead of Gert, not to mention Juju.
How i wish Continental was still alive.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-03-05 09:25

I would like to Congratulade Perreira For preparing Teko to become a Captain on june 2010. Let him be the Captain in all friendly matches until june 2010WC so that he will be strong & Matured enough to lead us. Although some will say Pienaar. Which Team did Pienaar ever Captain? none. Pienaar Never Captain any team. Only Teko who knows how to handle pressure Teko is going through hard trials of becoming a Captain. watch the space!!!Given Much criticism he got from his home country, I can assure you that Teko is strong Mentally & physically. he can stand a heat . Bravo mr Coach. Shapa Modise shapaaaa!!!

Criteria how the Captain Armband selected: 1. A player who behave on and off-field. A player who can stand Criticism. A player who is strong mentally and physical. Teko has all this qualities. Unlike Pienaar who is being caught drunk and driving or pushing prostitutes. Teko has dealt with all dark the forces(soccerladuma& kickoff combined) who wanted him to demise

Shapa the Navigator shapaaaa!!!!

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-03-05 09:31

Many people dont know that To become a Captain is like someone who wants to become a Pastor,or Sangoma or King, they must go through some hard process. So, does Teko, not Pienaar.

Piennar never Captain Bafana or any team. he dont have Captaincy experience. Any person who wants to become a Captain,or sangoma, or King or Pastor must go through some hard trials. You dont just become a captain over nite. Teko deserve the Armaband.

Elijah : 2010-03-05 09:46

If Teko was a ship or a boat, Id be very worried abt which shoreline I end up on. First 'Navigator', now 'Captain', eish he can't even direct a shot on goal, never mind direct a ship!!!!!!!
Help me Captain Jack Sparrow, help me!

Pearl & Paul dont be jelouse, ok then let the scientist open your eyes. Nkosi,Fernandez,Morris,ZUMA & "A.MOKOENA" have all played in the Biggest leagues in Europe, now are you saying they are more gifted than MODISE.

-Did you know Pienaar as an attacking middlefielder hasnt scored a goal for Bafana Bafana in 4 years

-Did you know in 8 years for Bafana Bafana Pienaar only scored 2 goals.

-Did you know in 3 years Modise has scored 9 goals.

-Did you know Doctor Khumalo also scored a total of 9 goals for Bafana Bafana, but he only did that in 9 years as copaired to Modise with 3.

-Did you know Teko averages more goals per year for his National Team than Pienaar,Zidane,Ronaldinho & Doctore Khumalo.

-Did you know Teko averages more goals per year for his National Team than Pienaar,Zidane,Ronaldinho & Doctore Khumalo..

-Did you know Teko got a higher Castrol Index rating than Pienaar & Robinho for confed cup.

-Did you know according to FIFA technical reports for Confed Cup, Modises had more passes & 78% accuracy as compaired to Pienaar with 75% accuracy.
I did not invent this data, its there for everyone to see.

This is a fact not my opinion, you can verify if it makes you happy..."Teko 'Zidane' Modise is the living god of SA football, Pienaar & Shaba are blessed to have lived in his time" - Prof Matwetwe

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-03-05 10:38

Modise will lead the country. no matter what.

just to refresh your mind

"The witty words of Julius Malema"

The leader of the ANC Youth League knows how to speak his mind – and does it often. Take a look at our favourite Malemisms.
On business:

"Being involved in business compromises the independence of the ANCYL because every time you open your mouth you must check if business will be happy or not," Malema said.

Inspiring the youth:
"I'm not corrupt… I must restore the faith of South Africa's youth by entering the business world."

On his finances:
The ANCYL said that Malema was "willing to clarify anything that will be brought to him within the country's laws".

Okay, what about the government tenders?
"What gives you the power to ask me that question? Let me tell you, I do not owe you any answer, to be honest. I am not accountable to you... I am accountable to the ANCYL and ANC." Malema went on to say "there is no law that says politicians can't be businessmen".

On his Mercedes-Benz (which costs R814 000):
"This car I own is nothing compared to the cars of white kids, sports cars they play with in Sandton every Sunday… There's no corruption because they are white, if they are to be driven by any African child all of them will be investigated, all of them would be front pages. You don't want a black diamond to shine... you'll never succeed with us."

Oh… but:
"I didn't join the struggle to become a rich man. I must change the lives of my people, and nobody will stop me."

…Which is why Julius drinks Moët
"I'm still living in poverty today, because as long as a neighbour of mine is struggling, I, too, am struggling," Malema told the elderly crowd, shortly before popping the cork of a bottle of Moët et Chandon Rosé which costs R703 a bottle, according to Caroline's Fine Wines.

On getting preferential treatment by police:
"Who do you think you are? Don't you know that I am Julius, president of the ANCYL?" Malema apparently said to the traffic officers, after being stopped for using a blue light.

On women and rape:
"When a woman didn't enjoy it, she leaves early in the morning. Those who had a nice time will wait until the sun comes out, request breakfast and ask for taxi money."

On racism at UFS:
"There is an evil spirit at the UFS. The evil spirit must be confronted, that evil spirit is deep-rooted at the university and that is racism," he said.

On keepin' it real:
"She must use her fake accent to address our problems," Malema said about Education Minister Naledi
