Super Eagles players still shocked by non qualification

Distraught Eagles lose sleep

Posted: 2011-10-10 09:44

Distraught at giving up a last minute goal that cost them qualification to next year's African Nations Cup, Super Eagles players found sleep hard to come by on Saturday night.

The squad left for London on Sunday morning ahead of Tuesday's friendly match against Ghana, and most of the squad players and officials alike, looked dreary-eyed.

"I couldn’t sleep," assistant coach Simon Kalika said. "I kept thinking about the game and how we let it go."

Obinna Nsofor said it took him until 4am to get some shut-eye.

"It was hard to sleep. This is a nightmare for all of us," he said.

Skipper Joseph Yobo was equally infected with the insomnia bug.

"It was impossible to sleep. It was almost like I was playing the game over and over again in my head.

"We did everything right until the last minute. We created at least 7 chances, and we should have ended the game in the first half.

"We defended well, we did not allow them to play. But they scored with two chances, especially the second goal when we were pushing for a third goal.

"We want to say sorry to Nigerians. Now we have to pick ourselves up and look forward."

The story was the same with all the other players, as sleep eluded them.

But the team are determined to go some way in making amends in Tuesday's friendly against Ghana.

sorry mates! You stand no chance against Ghana.
On the bright side I think the Ghana coach is looking at fielding a weak side for two reasons:
1. To give himself an excuse if he is to lose.
2. To genuinely not want to worsen the Nigerian woes.
My bet is- A draw on the cards.

HOW CAN YOU SLEEP WHEN YOU DENY 150 MILLION PEOPLE FROM THEIR SLEEP ALSO HUH........SHAMEFUL GUYS !!!!

Thats certainly the price to pay for causing most nigerians sleepless night before and after the game.

Thats the hand work of TB Joshua! You prayed but you guys need more prayers against his witch craft...I watched the 1st half and I knew his witch craft was at work....thanks to those pastors who prayed against his 1-0 prediction for Guinea

What is our business if you people beats Ghana...Is that the Nations qualification Ticket....Shameless Eagles.. A team that is suppose to be disbanded immediately after the loose to Guinea and pick the home boys that has featured in under 17, 20 and 23.. To play that Ghana match for exposure...The result is not important to us.....Shameless NFF..

Solution to super eagles in-envisage problems

We have all offended an innocent man and God’s wrath is on us.
A man who qualified us to two world cups without losing a single match yet was disgraced and bundled out because NFF whose tenor was ending needed white man to make dollar commission from before leaving.

He Picked us from 45th fifa ranking where we were languishing and left us at number 15.
Today we are at 50 and will drop to 70 after 2010 because others have competitions to attend while we remain idle.
Curse me if you wish. NFF should write an appology letter to Amodu and God will forgive us.
There is no way Amodu wouldn’t have qualified us to the ANC or fail to qualify frm that 2011 world cup cheap group.
We will only be running from pillar to post only Winning argentina and probably beat ghana tommorro.
But when the real thing comes. We fumble
Amodu’s nemesis. You can say that again.

Jesus said if you do not forgive men of their sin neither will God forgive you of your sin. Siasia your bloated ego and pride cost us direly by not fielding our best hands Vincent Enyeama. You desired to make a statement at all cost, and it has cost us everything. We lost precious money in the tune of millions, we lost our pride, and we lost a sporting event we so much cherished as a nation. The biggest problem is that it was avoidable, only if you have learned to be humble even as a leader. Your draconian rule that sees and hears no reason has come to fly in your face. You created and nurtured the atmosphere that manifested itself today, DO YOU HONESTLY EXPECT 100% COMMITMENT TO PLAYERS THAT YOU ABUSED OPENLY TO THE POINT OF DISGRACE AND OPEN PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT? You refused to accept "apologies" even when you didn't deserve one, and yet you will not yield to reason or common sense, and allow national interest to override your personal egos and self-pitied pride. Siasia are you really serious asking for apologies? Does that word apology actually mean anything to you, when you refused to accept one, even when it was not deserving? I still have FAITH in our current Eagle Squad, the only one good thing Siasia is good at, is being a good scout for new talents, but in the case of coaching he is of "C" class. We need an "A" class coach, I think Steven Keshi will do us better otherwise we should look for a messiah outside our shore. Good Bye Siasia as a coach, but we can retain you as a scout. In Eagles I still believe and trust. SACK THAT IMPOSTER SIASIA NOW. WE NEED A TRAINED COACH, FORMER PLAYER WITHOUT COACHING SKILLS AND TRAINING DOES NOT EQUATE A COACH. Sorry is not what we bargained for!

I WANT EACH AND EVERY SIASIA FANS AND SUPPORTERS TO TELL ME WHAT MAKE SIASIA A GOOD COACH!
(1) IS IT BECAUSE HE USED OVER AGE PLAYERS AND WON AFRICA UNDER 20?
(2) IS IT BECAUSE HE USED OVER AGE PLAYERS AND GET TO UNDER 20 WORLD CUP FINAL AND HE WAS BEATEN?
(3) IS IT BECAUSE HE USED OVER AGE PLAYERS AND GET TO UNDER 23 OLYMPIC FINAL AND HE WAS BEATEN?
(4)HE WAS GIVING HEARTLAND FOOTBALL CLUB WHICH HE FAILED TO TAKE THEM TO AFRICAN CHAMPION LEAGUE FINAL?
(5)NFF GAVE HIM SUPER EAGLE WHERE THERE'S NO AGE RESTRICTION AND HE FAILED US?
(6)HOW CAN WE FORGIVE SIASIA WHILE HE FAILED TO FORGIVE VINCENT ENYEAMA?

SIASIA DOES NOT HAVE SPIRIT OF FORGIVENESS.THE WHOLE WORLD HAVE SEEN HIS EGO AND ARROGENCE.IT'S ONLY FOOLISH PERSON WILL COME OVER HERE TO DEFEND SIASIA.TO ME,I DONT SEE ANY THING THAT MAKES SIASIA SPECAIL.A MYOPIA WILL TELL US THAT HE IS NOT THE ONE THAT STARTED THE GAMES OF HEARTLAND FOOTBALL CLUB AND SUPER EAGLE QUALIFICATION MATCH AT THE FIRST PLACE,WHICH IS NOT EXCUSES TO ME.

I REMEMBER WHEN CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB WAS FAILING APART AND GUSS HIDDINK CAME IN AND TURN THINGS AROUND WITH-IN ONE WEEK,THAT IS WHAT WE CALLED A GOOD COACH.

TEACHER DONT TEACH ME NONSENSE...HE WAS TALKING ABOUT INDISCIPLINE,WHILE FORGETTING THAT HE IS REAPING WHAT HE SOWED....DURING SIASIA TIME AS A PLAYER HE WAS STUBBORN AND ARROGANT THAT IS THE REASONS CLEMENS WESTERHOF DIDN'T USE HIM THAT MUCH,EVEN WHEN AMOKACHI AND AMUNEKE GOT INJURED IN USA 94,WESTERHOF STILL BENCH HIM,WHILE EVERY BODY KNOW THAT SIASIA IS THE RIGHT PLAYER TO REPLACE THEM DURING THE MATCH AGAINST ITALIANS.

COMING TO NIGERIA VS GUINEA MATCH:WHAT A GOOD COACH COULD HAVE DONE WHEN THE MATCH WAS 2-1 IS TO KEEP ON PLAYING LIKE THAT BECAUSE WE STILL HAVE A BIG CHANCE TO QUALIFY OR AS HE WANT TO BRING IN EKIGHO EHIOSUN FOR JOEL OBI....HE COULD HAVE TELL FENGOR OGUDE TO TAKE-OVER DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD AND MOVE EMENIKE OR ANY OF THE STRIKERS TO THE RIGHT-BACK,WHILE EKIGHO EHIOSUN STAY AS THE POINT-MAN SO THAT HE WILL USE HIS STRENGTH AND POWER TO DISTURB THE GUINEA DEFENDERS.

GHANINA UNDER 23 COACH NEEDED A GOAL AGAINST US IN THEIR HOME AND HE GOT IT.AMODU NEEDED AWAY WIN AGAINST KENYA IN WORLD CUP QUALIFY MATCH AND HE GOT IT.WHILE SIAISA CAN NOT GIVE US ONE GOAL TO QUALIFY US......TO ME,SIASIA IS ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE AND NFF NEED TO KICK HIM OUT.

@Ken,

I doff my hat oooo. Luck was highly needed on Sat and it deserted the team.

Morvin: 2011-10-10 13:02

We must pick up and move on.Ghana too have had their share of failures but they have made a serious effort by restructuring. we should take a cue from them. Best wishes and i hope siaone stays on

FELLOW NIGERIANS, I KNOW THT WE ARE HURTING BUT LET US ALSO THANK GOD THAT WE WERE NOT HUMILIATED. WE CAN STILL TAKE SOME POSSITIVE MOMENT HOME. PEOPLE LIKE GHANA GUYS IN THIS FORUM (LIKE BLAKSTAR)WHO NEVER WANTED 9JA PROGRESS MAY BE HAPPY NOW BUT I KNOW THAT 9JA IS A SPECIAL COUNTRY AND GOD HAS GOT A PLAN FOR US. IT MAY TAKE TIME BUT WE'LL GET THERE. HV WE ASKED OURSELVES WHY WE ARE HATED SO MUCH BY EVEN THE GHANAIANS WHOM WE CALL OUR BROTHERS, OR EVEN S.AFRICA WHOM WE HELPED IN THE FIGHT FOR LIBERATION OR EVEN THE WORLD AS A WHOLE. YOU DON'T WANT TO KNW THT THE IVORIAN OFFICIAL (THAT DAY) MIGHT BE PRAYING FOR 9JA TO LOOSE. IN ALL IT WAS A BAD DECISION FROM THE BENCH AND THE COACH SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILTY AND VOLUNTARILLY RESIGN. UP SUPER EAGLES UP 9JA.

luise-hero: 2011-10-10 14:33

what has happen, has happen the nest thing is a way foreword. for me nobody should be sack whether players or coach. they play well just that the goal fail to come. God bless Nigerians.

ken gadaffi: 2011-10-10 16:47

hahahaha Objective BIBBY God bless you. Yes, Supereagles were simply luckless. When i insisted that LUCK is more important than HARDWORK, some forumites shouted me down. The Super Eagles played well on sa****ay and could have ended the match 5-2 had LUCK been with them but it wasnt to be. better LUCK next time.

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Birikiti: 2011-10-10 16:49

Please let's leave P. TBJ out of this. The man only said what he saw! Most Prophets are not popular with the people cause they say what God showed them and not what people want to hear. Now, the issue is if God has revealed it, then it is subject to change (a la Isaiah telling Hezekiah God has said he will die but Hezekiah prayed and changed the prophesy)

The issue here is not about the man of God but about the actors involved, did they pray? Were they sincere? Did they want to give it their all? Events after the game shows that Siasia (and Nigerians at large) may have been sabotaged by key players! Yes, its that serious!
Although, Siasia also played into their hands but nobody can convince me that these players gave it there all.

I read Osaze on twitter hwere he called fans naive & journalists corrupt also listened to him on Brila where he tactless said NFF should decide whether to sack coach or not? Pray tell, how can you talk like this after you missed 2 glaring chances that could have won the game? Also, Mikel was sad to have gone to help his brother renew his passport and that was why he came late to camp??? I really don't understand this kind of behavior?

Personally, I will say away with Osaze, Mikel and the likes! Lets blood new younger, hungrier players. Players who will wear the Green jersey and defend it with all they got.
What is wrong with introducing, Udoh, Edek (from U-23) Omeruo, Ogungbe, Arokoyo, (from U-20) into the SE rightaway.
We have other exciting talents like Nosa Igiebor, Michael Babatunde, Rabiu Ibrahim, Oduamadi, Terna Suswan, Anthony Ujah, Michael Uchebo, Sani Emmanuel, etc waiting for a chance.
Yes, many of them might not be regular for clubs, but I guarantee they will "die" on the field for Nigeria "DIE"!

Lastly, I want folks to realize that over the ages God has always used the most unlikely people to speak His words (even Jesus was viewed as inappropriate to be messiah by the Jews), so it's not about who prophesied what but about the actors involved.

Yes I'm a xtian but No, I'm not a member of P. TBJ's church!

Dominion: 2011-10-10 17:07

Thank you @birikiti for your comment on the man of God. Nigerians are too proud and perverse. Last time prophet TB Joshua prophesied about our being in the W/C and it came to pass. Everybody was full of praises to him. Now he saw something else and enjoined everybody to be watchful, instead of praying and working hard to avert the evil, people are calling him names. MAY GOD FORGIVE THEM. LET ME ASK EVERYBODY: WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD DREAM? ABUSE GOD? OR PARY AGAINST THE OCCURENCE OF SUCH DREAM? I am not a member of his church and I'm not planning to become one but men of God must be respected. If only Nigerians took him serious, this wouldn't have happened.
Let me say here again that prophesies can be worked out as well as prevented from happening(if you don't like them).

Dominion: 2011-10-10 17:08

SORRY I MEANT 'PRAY' AND NOT 'PARY'

If Nigeria cannot beat Guinea in Abuja to qualify for ordinary Nations Cup, anyone who thinks God wasn't using that match to send a message is dreaming. The match totally confirms Prophet Joshua's prediction. When I read about that prediction before the match, even I, I said to myself that Prophet Joshua really goofed on this one because how can Nigeria playing with full squad not beat Guinea at home?
I would have expected that Nigerian team to have beaten even Ivory Coast in Abuja.

@luis hero and birikiti wen are we gona stop blaiming mikel 4 our defeats if we win we praise osaze wen we lose we blame mikel. was he d only midfielder on d pitch?? wat was joel obi doing and wat did eminike do wit d chance dat was given to him by mikel?? we must start to app dis young man and stop blaiming our defeats on him rada we shuld blame our sentimental and egosentric coach who has vowed dat every player dat features 4d SE must be players who hv either played under him or dose he discovered. i noticed dis during d u20 world cup in 2009 we he wiped out over 70% of coach yemi tella's boys and brought in some micreants he called his players. till today he still has not sent invitations to players like haruna lukman and rabiu ibrahim or even crisantus maculey... siasia must go dat should be our chant. ghana 3 9ja 0 dts my prediction....

Profy: 2011-10-11 15:28

What kind of Human beings are nigerians for God sake. Why did u create me among this people. Just in a few seconds a man of the people (Hero) has suddenly become a villian.
Much has it pains that we didnt qualify, It is not enough to abuse and rain insult on this man. Take positive out of the match. You win some and Loose some.
1st the Super Eagles is not the team of Old. We parade average players. The only player who play regularly now in top league is Joel Obi of Inter Millan. Taiye Taiwo is a flop in AC Millan while Mikel Obi sit at the Bench occasionally.
The implication of this statement is that we dont have quality players again.
2. SIASIA has not even spend a year in the saddle. Our non qualification also start with Eguavon. If we have won or draw that match. A draw will give us 12POINTS. Libya qualify with 12points as a runner up. So Siasia is not entirely to be blame. You dont change coach intermittently and expect result. A mistake we are about to make now once siasia is sack. Another qualifier starts next 2013.
3. Osaze is a saboteaur. My only regret is that why did SIASIA use Mikel and Osaze. This guys are not suppose to be in that team. They are not committed and passionate. But the fans will not allow the coach to be if he doesnt use them. The beginning of Siasia problem was the recalling back osaze back to the team. Thats the only issue that pains me with Siasia.
4. Iff NFF want to sack him, let them go ahead to appoint one of the ani siasia forumites to handle the team or bring in Mourinho and let see the result.
5.@ Ken Gadafi, Nigeria doesnt have a team when Siasia take over.If not for Siasia, players like Joel Obi, IK Uche, Fengor Ogude, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Emmanuel Ekpo, Emenike will never have chance to play for Super Eagles.
6. A lot of positives since this guy takes over. Atleast we now play attacking foot*****. Since have been watching SIASIA teams. the least clear cut chances the team has created is 8. Lets give him a chance.
What a country. We are not patient. Just 5month in the Saddle, and after loosing a match, the new song is SACK. Na waoooooo.

Am ready to take on all Siasia critics on this forum one by one. I remain commited to this course and is very simple:
1. Siasia should be allowed atleast 4 years to build a team we can be proud off.
2. Players Like Osaze, Mikel, Ambrose should be excluded from the team.
3. Siasia should scout Local Leagues for Good defenders.
4. Some U23 team players should be drafted into the team.
5. This is the time the NFF need to start organising friendlies for super eagles to discover new players.

I will be back.
