Odemwingie denies quotes

Posted: 2011-10-10 09:37

Osaze Odemwingie has reacted angrily to, and strongly denied quotes attributed to him in the media on Sunday.

The first claimed that Odemwingie blamed the prophecy by Pastor TB Joshua as affecting the team, while the second quoted the player as saying all the players and officials should be punished.

"I never said anything like that. I said we were aware through the media that he said something concerning that, but it cannot affect us.

"We as usual prayed before every game as a team and there was a pastor there who said something like that but he said we're going to pray and that is not true.

"We did pray, but then we're all human beings there's half of us who'll say he said that but at the same time we are footballers. We're going to the pitch to do our jobs, we're going to play do our job, score goals. It didn’t affect us in any way the way they painted it," Osaze said.

The striker described the second set of quotes claiming that he asked for all the players and officials to be punished as fabrication.

"Not even one word of that interview in the Tribune was from me. Not one word.

"I spoke to a group of journalists at the hotel. But the words that I should be punished, I would never say that, neither did I say the whole team should be punished.

"I said the officials and the players were disappointed that we didn’t get the result. But saying players should go, officials should go can never come out of my mouth."

The West Brom striker added that he would be seeking legal advice on what steps to take regarding both publications.

"Well, yeah, I will seek advice. Right now I have too many emotions in my head. I will think of what to do, but it’s possible I will take action."

Colin Udoh should unfollow Osaze on twitter. This report is absolutely incomplete. What followed afterwards?

Its a game of football where 1+1 is not always 2. Lose draw or win, you accept it and work harder.

Why did Osaze lasted that long on the pitch? Why did Joel Obi has to be removed? Siasia, there are hundreds of questions begging for answers. And we thought you are the Messiah......

Ebene: 2011-10-10 10:52

U removed Joel Obi and left Mikel, who is the stronger of the two? Do you need a Certificate in Coaching to deduce this things? I wont blame any player, all the blame should be piled on Siasia. That's why they call them Managers.

People keep saying "Osaze doesnt want to play for Siasia", "The players lacked confidence", etc but I still say the Coach carries the majority of the blame. A good coach wont allow any player to spoil his reputation. Siasia has dissapointed millions of Nigerians who believed so much in him (I heard of an elderly man crying profusely on Sa****ay). Even if he stays now, how will he gain back those trusts?

Give it to the Ghanians, right now they are better than us.

Please NFF stop blaming a single player, and accpet that the whole Super Natural Chicken of Nigeria lost to a better side even though you played draw. Go back to the drawing board and do your home work, and please learn from Ghana Black Stars, the favorite to win the Nations Cup God willing and I know we shall. Start from the grass root and I believe we shall see the real Super Eagle. We need all the 150,000,000 support to get behind us, as your Super Natural Chicken could not get the ticket. GOD BLESS MY HOMELAND GHANA. BLACK STARS MY DEEP BLOOD.

This Osaze is so annoying . Is this the reason why you kicked a goal scoring opportunity backwards instead of forward ?????????????

PEOPLE LIKE GHANA GUYS IN THIS FORUM (LIKE BLAKSTAR)WHO NEVER WANTED 9JA PROGRESS MAY BE HAPPY NOW BUT I KNOW THAT 9JA IS A SPECIAL COUNTRY AND GOD HAS GOT A PLAN FOR US. IT MAY TAKE TIME BUT WE'LL GET THERE. HV WE ASKED OURSELVES WHY WE ARE HATED SO MUCH BY EVEN THE GHANAIANS WHOM WE CALL OUR BROTHERS, OR EVEN S.AFRICA WHOM WE HELPED IN THE FIGHT FOR LIBERATION OR EVEN THE WORLD AS A WHOLE. YOU DON'T WANT TO KNW THT THE IVORIAN OFFICIAL (THAT DAY) MIGHT BE PRAYING FOR 9JA TO LOOSE. IN ALL IT WAS A BAD DECISION FROM THE BENCH AND THE COACH SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILTY AND VOLUNTARILLY RESIGN. UP SUPER EAGLES UP 9JA.

@Nkata, so it is now that people like you know that the coach should not be blame, who did you blame when Amodu was in charge? I think Amodu has been vindicated now. For your info, Siasia is holding the record of worst nigeria coach in the past 25years. Amodu played bad football and took us to semi-final of ANC but your so called Siaone could not even qualify shame to you all who condemned Amodu then.
To all forumite you should all respect Ken Ghadafi.

All those who are calling for the NFF to disband the super eagles are making a huge mistake as you know it will not be done. But thank God my beloved Ghana will make your dreams come through with regard to disbanding the team by thrashing Nigeria 5-0 to force the disbandment.9ja MOUTH NO DEY PLAY FOOTBALL YOU TOOO DEY TALK .GHANA for life.
