Melo blames vuvuzelas for his problems

Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo, who has been in hiding since returning home, has finally emerged and is blaming vuvuzelas for what appeared to be an own-goal during the South Americans World Cup defeat against Holland.
The disappointment of Brazil's quarter-final crash out of the tournament was dumped almost entirely on Melo alone after he was originally credited with the own goal (that was eventually given to Wesley Sneijder) and later sent off in their loss to the Netherlands.
Coming out of hiding after fans tried to set his house on fire, Melo tells Football Italia: "I will not be a scapegoat in any way: it's seems that everything I have done has been negative.
"We are forgetting the good things, like the assist I gave to Robinho and the good performances in the other games.
"I know that I share part of the blame for the defeat against Holland, but I know that I gave my best. Julio Cesar called for the ball, but with the vuvuzelas it was difficult to hear."
However, only a few journos are taking the Brazilian seriously and say that it could be the start of a new trend disappointing players blaming vuvuzelas for their poor performance in South Africa.
Felipe Melo is now looking ahead: "Now my only objective is that of returning to Juventus and doing a good job," the player who won an award for being the worst player in Serie A last season says.
The critical Italian media retort is that they hope Italian fans adopt the vuvuzelas so as to give him a built in excuse just in case he has another horrible year.
