Melo blames vuvuzelas for his problems

Posted: 2010-07-13 07:10

Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo, who has been in hiding since returning home, has finally emerged and is blaming vuvuzelas for what appeared to be an own-goal during the South Americans World Cup defeat against Holland.

The disappointment of Brazil's quarter-final crash out of the tournament was dumped almost entirely on Melo alone after he was originally credited with the own goal (that was eventually given to Wesley Sneijder) and later sent off in their loss to the Netherlands.

Coming out of hiding after fans tried to set his house on fire, Melo tells Football Italia: "I will not be a scapegoat in any way: it's seems that everything I have done has been negative.

"We are forgetting the good things, like the assist I gave to Robinho and the good performances in the other games.

"I know that I share part of the blame for the defeat against Holland, but I know that I gave my best. Julio Cesar called for the ball, but with the vuvuzelas it was difficult to hear."

However, only a few journos are taking the Brazilian seriously and say that it could be the start of a new trend disappointing players blaming vuvuzelas for their poor performance in South Africa.

Felipe Melo is now looking ahead: "Now my only objective is that of returning to Juventus and doing a good job," the player who won an award for being the worst player in Serie A last season says.

The critical Italian media retort is that they hope Italian fans adopt the vuvuzelas so as to give him a built in excuse just in case he has another horrible year.

The Vuvuzela is here to stay. Those who blame it in the media are giving it more mileage. Now the Italiano will be buying more to deafen Melo all the way until he comes to Mzansi to apologise to the holy horn of Mzansi. Bathathe Vuvuzela.

This guy just had a bad tournament, against Portugal he was changed in the first half of the game when he was kicking everybody in the pitch, against Holland; he kicked Ajen Ruben and purposely stamped on him and received the red card. Am not talking about the own goal, but his style of play is what I don’t understand and how he made Brazilian team is what I don’t understand. He must come out of hiding and accept responsibility of his actions. By the grace of GOD, I will be going to his home town Brazil with my lovely VUVUZELA.

Melo should just keep quiet, what is saying now is an after thought,he's blaming vuvuzela for his mad moment behaviour,is it vuvuzela that made stamp on Robben, is it vuvuzela that made him a flop in Juventus, thank God ****nal did not buy him.The problem with most of the Brasilian players is "sheer arrogance" they thought they are super stars, that even referee should respect them on the field when they are tackled.I only pity good and humble players like Kaka and Lucio.Melo is saying rubbish.

Jingotres: 2010-07-13 13:45

Gaan kak of put your head up where the sun does'nt shine so that you can shut the f**k up. ****!

Msenti: 2010-07-13 14:44

What Melo is saying is that he headed the ball into his own net b'cos he could not hear the goalkeeper call for it. Makes a lot of sense....

Swona Champ!: 2010-07-13 15:12

Melo is a good player, but he is one of the reasons why Dunga lost his job, he believed in them and they were out of control, maybe he did wrong as well by not selecting one star player like your Ronaldhino to carry them and take the blame for them, blaming the vuvuzela is stupit!

Swona Champ!: 2010-07-13 15:13

Is he saying Spain and the Dutch played without the vuvuzela in the stadium, for his info, there was more than 80 000 vuvuzelas in the final!

tk.: 2010-07-13 16:30

blah blah blah. why did he not blame the vuvuzelas when they won the confed. does that mean vuvuzelas are biased? strange that he was the only one who was disturbed by the holy sound of the vuvu. he is a bad loser, and coming from a brazilian, he is worse than the paraguay goalie

tk.: 2010-07-13 16:35

Msenti: 2010-07-13 14:44

does that mean if your goalie does not call for a ball, you must score an own goal. how about clearing the ball even if your keeper dosn't make a call.

The Ghost: 2010-07-13 19:06

He was smart for one thing though, and that was go into hiding ...

KidKudu7: 2010-07-13 20:27

I'm currently watching the FIFA Women Under 20 currently taking place in Germany and guess what?? Vuvuzelas are being blown with a deafening sound & there are no complaints.

Felipe Melo won an award for being the worst player in Serie A last season, period.

Dikotsi: 2010-07-14 12:27
