Sven-Goran Eriksson in Ivory Coast talks

Eriksson in Ivory Coast talks

Swedish coach Sven-Goran Eriksson is a candidate for the vacant position of Ivory Coast national coach.

A report last week suggested that it was only a matter of time before the Ivorian Football Association appointed Dutch coach Guus Hiddink as the new man in charge of the Elephants.

Negotiations with the former Netherlands and Australia boss haven’t led to an agreement so far though and Ivory Coast are now also considering the Swedish coach for the vacant position, says a report on Goal.com.

"Ivorian federation directors, who are looking for a coach to lead the Elephants of the Ivory Coast, have had discussions with coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, who showed his desire to lead the Ivorian team in the 2010 World Cup," read an official statement of the Ivorian FA.

Ivory Coast are without a head coach due to the departure of Vahid Halilhodzic in the last week of February.

The Bosnian coach was sacked following the disappointing performances at the African Nations Cup.

They fools if they take Eriksson. Ask Mexico - they were not gonna be at the world Cup if they did not sack him.
