Bafana Bafana's Bryce Moon meets Brazilian legend Cafu

Bryce over the Moon

Posted: 2010-03-05 09:47

Bafana Bafana defender Bryce Moon jetted off back to Greece yesterday a happy man.

Not only is Moon jubilant about his performance during the international friendly game against Namibia at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday, but also about meeting soccer legend and former Brazil national team captain Cafu during the Bafana camp in Durban.

Moon, along with Germany-based defender Bradley Carnell, was one of the few overseas-based players recalled by the Bafana technical team for the mid-week game against Namibia which ended in 1-1.

Although he did not win the Man of the Match award which went to Golden Arrows midfielder Thanduyise Khuboni, the former Ajax Cape Town defender was one of the best performers in Bafana colours and was instrumental in setting up South Africa's goal in the second half which was scored by Mamelodi Sundown striker Katlego Mphela.

Moon says he had the privilege to talk to Cafu during his visit.

"It was really great honour to meet a person of Cafu's caliber, a player that has won the World Cup three times and won more than 100 caps for his national team.

"We did not speak much about football, only about a few Brazilian players that are playing in Greece, but his presence at training was great inspiration and that's why I tried to give my best during the game against Namibia."

The Panathinaikos defender currently on loan to Greek Super League team, PAOK Athens, conceded that he was disappointed by being overlooked by former Bafana coach Joel Santana.

"Like any player I always like to represent my country, but I never gave up hoping and continued to work hard at club level where I have been rewarded with more regular action recently," Moon told KickOff.com at the OR Tambo airport last night before jetting off to Greece.

I would like to Congratulade Perreira For preparing Teko to become a Captain on june 2010. Let him be the Captain in all friendly matches until june 2010WC so that he will be strong & Matured enough to lead us. Although some will say Pienaar. Which Team did Pienaar ever Captain? none. Pienaar Never Captain any team. Only Teko who knows how to handle pressure Teko is going through hard trials of becoming a Captain. watch the space!!!Given Much criticism he got from his home country, I can assure you that Teko is strong Mentally & physically. he can stand a heat . Bravo mr Coach. Shapa Modise shapaaaa!!!

Criteria how the Captain Armband selected: 1. A player who behave on and off-field. A player who can stand Criticism. A player who is strong mentally and physical. Teko has all this qualities. Unlike Pienaar who is being caught drunk and driving or pushing prostitutes. Teko has dealt with all dark the forces(soccerladuma & kickoff combined) who wanted him to demise

Shapa the Navigator shapaaaa!!!!

Pearl & Paul dont be jelouse, ok then let the scientist open your eyes. Nkosi,Fernandez,Morris,ZUMA & "A.MOKOENA" have all played in the Biggest leagues in Europe, now are you saying they are more gifted than MODISE.

-Did you know Pienaar as an attacking middlefielder hasnt scored a goal for Bafana Bafana in 4 years

-Did you know in 8 years for Bafana Bafana Pienaar only scored 2 goals.

-Did you know in 3 years Modise has scored 9 goals.

-Did you know Doctor Khumalo also scored a total of 9 goals for Bafana Bafana, but he only did that in 9 years as copaired to Modise with 3.

-Did you know Teko averages more goals per year for his National Team than Pienaar,Zidane,Ronaldinho & Doctore Khumalo.

-Did you know Teko averages more goals per year for his National Team than Pienaar,Zidane,Ronaldinho & Doctore Khumalo..

-Did you know Teko got a higher Castrol Index rating than Pienaar & Robinho for confed cup.

-Did you know according to FIFA technical reports for Confed Cup, Modises had more passes & 78% accuracy as compaired to Pienaar with 75% accuracy.
I did not invent this data, its there for everyone to see.

This is a fact not my opinion, you can verify if it makes you happy..."Teko 'Zidane' Modise is the living god of SA football, Pienaar & Shaba are blessed to have lived in his time" - Prof Matwetwe

You are a real dumb darkie! our soccer is in shambles because of people like you who praise mediocrity! That is why Teko is still playing in the local league and failing to make an impression whilst Pienaar is playing against the top guns and making a name for himself!
Only a dom darkie like you will try to compare gold and bronze and see better value in bronze! eish! what we have to struggle with in this country!

Swona (Treble): 2010-03-05 10:58

I am A Pirates supporter, I wish the best for all OP players, but for Teko and him being a captain? dont think it's a good move, he played like an ordinery player on this game in the first half, then he found a corner vanished in the field, I have been watching him for some time, I think his career is about to reach the end, I must say even this McMeals are not doing him any good, they are contaminating him,

Modice: 2010-03-05 10:58

Ke mang setlaela se bareng ke Tivani? Dude comon or is Modise paying you to say all this? infact I rest my case, I won't be able to raise to your stupidity, even if I wanted.

Did you know Teko has never played for a European team where the standard of play is much higher than in South Africa?

Did you know Teko is very slow?

Did you know Teko can no longer shoot on target?

Did you know Teko struggles against European team. Even tiny Iceland?

James: 2010-03-05 11:30

Another thing that is really bugging me is this Mbuyane boy - he is selected as a mid-fielder yet he is a striker? shocking how space is made for these Pie-rats flops! also this boy looks like he could be Khoza's son. The resemblance is so strong!

pappas: 2010-03-05 11:43

Tivani is teko's wife

Tebica: 2010-03-05 12:30

Hee.........banna!!! Is it true that Teko Modise is being compared to Steven Pienaar? Muuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrr. Its a only a matter of time before PSL is compared with English Premier League or Manchester United with Pirates, Chiefs, Sundowns, etc.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-03-05 12:49

Teko is the best.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-03-05 12:51

bafuwetho: Peace magents

Steven Pinaar is a good player but in the Bafana-Bafana he is highly overrated. He has never done anything good for his country and should not wear jersey no 10 at the 2010 world cup. Just because he is playing in England doesn’t make him the best among the best.

Teko has proven himself numerously that he is ready to die for Bafana Bafana. He has scored and created lots of goals in a short period of time. We should not be jealousy and give credit were is due. With Modise we have won couple of games and as for Pinaar I’ve never seen anything special about him except to say he plays for Everton.

Pinaar is even jealous of Modise, I’ve seen him in the confederations cup he couldn’t pass the ball to Teko. He is so afraid of him because he knew how famous Teko is.

= it is also high in South Africa. Pirates and Chiefs beat Man city.

Did you know Teko is very slow?

= He is the fatest player in PSL

Did you know Teko can no longer shoot on target?

He was shooting well against Zim and Namibia.

Did you know Teko struggles against European team. Even tiny Iceland?

= He was not playing that game.

i am sure even khoza is reasoning the same way as This "TIVANI" and that explains the rot at Pirates! i am a fan of Teko but it is at his lowest in terms on perfomance and Parreira's gesture is a mere over-compensation for lack of effort!

"Steven Pienaar arrested for drunk driving"

Steven Pienaar, is facing drunk driving charges after being arrested by Liverpool police in the early hours of Sunday morning - just hours after he thrilled the Everton faithful with his starring role in defeating Manchester United 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Merseyside police said Pienaar will be charged with driving under the influence of liquor and failing to comply with a traffic signal and has been ordered to appear at the Liverpool City Magistrates Court on 9 March.

But there little chance that Bafana Bafana team will be denied Pienaar’s services, considering the long line of top South African sportsmen who have fallen foul of the law and got away with it. At the very least he could be slapped with a driving suspension and a fine.

South African football's top brass Kirsten Nematandani (President), Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana (Vice President) and Leslie Sedibe (CEO) were all attending a meeting in Johannesburg on yesterday afternoon and were not available for comment.

Pienaar’s arrest came on the eve him featuring in last night’s new soccer show, Goal Diggerz, on Channel O, giving viewers a tour of his Liverpool home, where he lives surrounded by pictures and artifacts that reflect those who have inspired him over the years – including President Nelson Mandela.

He also showed off his boys-dream-come-true memorabilia-filled games room filled and his car collection – but if he’s convicted it might be some time before he can drive around in them.

The mercurial midfielder is arguably South Africa's best player at the moment and his game has flourished above all expectations this season at Everton, where he has already run up a highly-creditable six-goal tally this year.

South African fans will be hoping that Pienaar's brush with the law will not affect his performances on the field of play. 27-year-old Pienaar carries a huge responsibility in Carlos Alberto Parreira's side.

Earlier this year, his silky skills earned him a 'Player of the Weekend' award after he ran onto a cross kick in the ****nal goalmouth and lobbed the ball over the opposition goalkeeper.

The match was played in freezing cold conditions but Pienaar warmed the hearts of the 60 000 fans when he scored his goal nine minutes from the end to gave Everton a 2-1 lead. – West Cape News

here is your Captain
